Did You Know...

... that iFLY Seattle has turned the table in the 8-year duel with Florida's Indoor Cloud League teams?

iFLY Seattle's Indoor Cloud League team in May
posted Jun 6th, 2018 - The leaderboards of the Indoor Cloud League's May competition are not complete yet, as the participating teams can still use the last days of each month to submit new and improve previously posted scores. The first days of the new month are usually the time when the final processing of videos and judging takes place.

However, the May scores and videos of the two longest standing ICL teams, Northwest Skydiving League (iFLY Seattle) and Florida Skydiving League (iFLY Orlando/iFLY Tampa), have been posted, together with the Czech May results from the Hurricane Factory. Both leaderboards will be completed in the coming days.

The duel between the NWSL competitors at iFLY Seattle and the Florida Skydiving League teams began in 2012 when the dive pool was limited to 12+ sequences. The same battle continues in its 8th year and is closer than ever before. Both teams were tied with their April totals (111), and iFLY Seattle won by one single point in May. It's a 7-point difference (538 - 531) after five months.

Both teams spent four years together on the 12+ leaderboard, and the Florida team at iFLY Orlando was always ahead at the end of the year, even when other ICL teams joined and took the top spots beginning in 2014. The situation changed when the Florida team transitioned from the old 12-foot flying chamber in Orlando to the new iFLY facilities and also began to compete in the 14-foot flying chamber of iFLY Tampa.

The Northwest and Florida Skydiving League competitors were not on the same leaderboards any longer when the 14+ sequences were added to the Indoor Cloud League competition in 2016. However, the ICL 2017 season brought the two teams back together on the 14+ leaderboard, where the NWSL team had posted their scores in 2016, as well.

The FSL team continued on the 12+ leaderboard in Orlando, while a new group posted scores on the 14+ leaderboard. The NWSL team turned the results in iFLY Tampa's first year, the ICL 2017 season, and won for the first time (1345 - 1178) in this duel between NWSL and FSL since 2012.

Florida is still ahead with the total of the totals since 2012 (6717 - 6472) while the NWSL team has turned the table since 2017. Seattle Swift has been a major factor in helping to turn the table, not only with the AAA and AA scores. Florida does not have a trained team in these categories and has been outscored by Seattle Swift regularly and once again by ten points (46 - 36) in May.

NWSL and ICL organizer Deb Correia had a new participant, Livia Paschke, in her May team. She is Kurt Ferstl's step-daughter and had some coaching with Deb Correia a couple of years ago before recently starting to fly again. She has also done a tandem jump after turning 18 and will be working on her AFF progression. Another NWSL competitor, Samantha d'Andrea, has come back after two years in school. She has graduated and moved back to Seattle, and the NWSL team is excited to have her back. Lisa Orchard participated for the second time, and Deb Correia was able to create an all-girl lineup for the May competition.
