Did You Know...

... that Team Altitude has joined the outdoor world?

The 4 Bear Birds in 2014 and 2015
posted Apr 28th, 2018 - The story on 26 April 2018 explained the relationships of three of the four AAA Class teams at the Canadian Indoor Nationals 2018. Team Altitude actually completed the AAA Class leaderboard in 4th place, and the event also included the country's championships in the AA and A categories.

There is a connection between Canada's national team in 4-way Women, Fuzion Voltige, and team Altitude, as well. Fuzion's Inside Center, Marie-Eve Dallaire, is helping the team with coaching. Altitude has also randomly worked with Arizona Airspeed member Niklas Hemlin, who is coaching Canada's 4-way Women team too.

Team Altitude has been on the Canadian leaderboards almost as long as Fuzion Voltige and 4'Astrophe who both appeared on Canadian leaderboards for the first time in 2013.

Altitude posted their first scores with three of the current team members (Jérome Denis, John A. Jasko, Frédéric Labadie) under the team name "The 4 Bear Birds" beginning in 2014, even though the team was already formed in 2013. Then they went through all three categories that Canada is offering (AAA - AA - A) between 2014 and 2016.

Taking it to the skies: Team Altitude in 2017
The 4 Bear Birds won the A Class gold medals in 2014 and followed up with the 1st place in the AA Class a year later. Then they moved up into the AAA Class in 2016 with a new team member (Charles Botar for Raphael Couroux) and the new team name Altitude.

Charles Botar was in the lineup only for one year before Arnaud Duplessier joined the team. Attitude has now started the third year in the AAA Class and the second year with the same lineup.

The 4 Bear Birds/Altitude attended only the Canadian indoor nationals between 2014 and 2017. Finally, in 2017, the current lineup took it to the skies, as well, and competed at the national outdoor championships in Farnham, Quebec. It was the same event where 16-year old Yannick Bisson attended his first outdoor competition.

Altitude is now a determined and ambitious indoor and outdoor team both. They jump from planes in the Canadian summer and train once per week in the wind tunnel during the winter months and is supported by the skydiving industry, local and regional sponsors.

Inside Center John A. Jasko (500 jumps - 50 tunnel hours) and Outside Center Jérome Denis (300 jumps - 34 tunnel hours) have both been in the sport since 2012, while their current team mates Arnaud Duplessier (2008 - 900 - 20) and Frédéric Labadie (2002 - 300 - 22) started years earlier. Arnaud Deplessier has also attended competitions in France, his home country.

FAI silver medals for Canada: Air Devils in 2017
The Air Devils had no troubles winning the AA Class competition, even though the team's scoring level was lower compared to the 26.0 average at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 where they won the silver medals for Canada on their home turf in Montreal.

The 4-way Junior team had a change in the lineup after the world meet in October last year. Hope Hadfield has replaced Malachai DeAth, and the new lineup is shooting up towards the previous scoring level.

The Air Devils are also connecting members of the Bisson family, as father Richard Bisson is coaching the team with his son Yannick Bisson still in the point slot. The NSL News mentioned in the earlier update from Canada that all three Bissons (Valerie, Yannick, Richard) placed 2nd in the AAA Class with 4'Astrophe.

Valerie Bisson also competed with the all-female Karm4 lineup in the AA Class, where her brother finished far ahead with the Air Devils. All four Air Devils attended other indoor events, as they have done in the past.
