... that Aerokart Ak'demie 2 and Air Devils lifted AA Class competition to a new performance level?

First FAI world meet gold medals in Montreal: Aerokart Ak'demie 2
posted Oct 22nd, 2017 - The AAA Class sequence for Round 10 (K,E,10,11) at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 did not allow any team to make a significant move on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Only the teams that were close enough to each other before Round 10 still had an opportunity to change things in the last round, and there were a few occasions.

All four winners in the Formation Skydiving events (NMP PCH HayaBusa in 4-way Open, French Weembi Girls in 4-way Women, Aerokart Ak'demie in 4-way Junior, France in 4-way VFS) had secured their gold medal positions before the last round and just had to carry their leads over the finish line.

Arizona Airspeed won the bronze medals over Black Cat in an extra round, while the HF Chicks made their final bronze medal move already in Round 10.

The French Weembi Girls won with one of the largest leads in the history of the sport (50 points), and the winning margin in 4-way Junior was much larger than expected. The French Aerokart Ak'demie 2 team won the gold medals 22 points ahead of the Montreal home team, the Air Devils.

New AA Class standards: Air Devils
The preview of the 4-way Junior event on 15 October 2017 had explained how this lineup of the three Aerokart Ak'demie project teams was selected as the national team. It was obviously a good decision by the French federation, as the team finished with an unseen 28.8 average.

This is is not only the unprecedented winning average in Montreal. The 28.8 is also the highest results at any AA Class competitions in history, not only for junior teams.

Cameron Malie, Eliot Massier, Oscar Massier and Tom Matton shattered any previous AA Class averages, and both junior top teams in the first two places lifted AA Class competition to a new performance level.

The highest AA Class indoor average the NSL News could find in the records was a 24.4 with an easier AA dive pool at the New Hampshire indoor meet of 2010.

Yvonne Saa and Samantha Joseph had two player coaches in the lineup, 4-way Women world champion Sally Hathaway and current Arizona Airspeed member Ari Perelman.

The NSL News introduced the French Aerokart Ak'demie 4-way junior project first time on 19 May 2015. Aerokart manager Françoise Simons-Hamouchi, coach Marin Ferre and his assistants Amelie Tirman and Stephane Mattoni did not really have FAI gold medals in their minds when they launched the project.

Aerokart Ak'demie 4-way junior project start in 2014
However, the 4-way Junior event was soon included at world cups and world meets when FAI/IPC decided to sanction indoor competition, as well.

The French Formation Skydiving delegation had a great starting point with the 4-way junior project already in place, and the four highly experienced coaches provided very helpful management, knowledge and experiences. Result of the successful project are the first FAI world meet gold medals for France in this new event.

The team members started in different lineups in 2014. Only Eliot MAassier and Tom Mattoni have been together since the very beginning. Cameron Malie joined in 2015, and Eliot's brother Oscar Massier was selected for the Ak'demie 2 lineup in 2016.

The winning lineup in its second year first won the French qualification with 22.5 in March and now peaked with the incredible 28.8 in Montreal.

The French junior story includes another unique situation. Tom Mattoni won his gold medal for France in 4-way Junior while his father Stéphane finished with a 17.6 average for Monaco on the AAA Class leaderboard...
