posted Oct 28th, 2016 - The completion of the 4-way and 8-way events at the USPA Nationals 2016 allows the Sun Path Products NSL News to continue with more aftermath of previous events.

There is a topic that is almost as important as the adventures of the Fun Flag, and sometimes the stories of both topics even connect.

The team videographers are usually not getting a lot of attention behind their cameras, even though running a Formation Skydiving competition would simply be impossible without them. There is more to it than just the fact that the sport completely depends on presenting the freefall footage visually to the judges. The success of a team is directly depending on the performance of the videographer, who is fully included in the rules and responsible for presenting the athletic performance of the team in a judgeable way. The videographer can cause point deductions just as infringements by the team.

Founding members of the videographers' labor union
Four team videographers decided to take action when the FAI Mondial 2016 went by once again without much attention to the important and skilled freefall performances by the 5th team members, and they protested officially at the Sun Path Products NSL News headquarters at Skydive Chigao.

Lars Naeve (Skymix - Germany) and Anders Krabbenhoeft (Valkyria - Denmark) scheduled a meeting to initiate a videographer's labor union, which took place in a rather casual atmosphere after the completion of the competition.

They invited Michel Laynaud (French Girls) and Simon Brentford (NFTO - Great Britain) and discussed the plan and the details of the project. Next step was the presentation of the complaint to the Sun Path Products NSL News, which was accepted and appreciated.

Bronze medals for Ane and Simon Brentford
Michel Laynaud has been filming the French Girls since the new lineup was formed in 2015 and collected his first world meet medal at the FAI Mondial 2016. Simon Brentford won the bronze medal together with his wife Ane, who performs for NFTO in front of his camera.

Anders Krabbenhoeft used to film the VAF Warriors, Denmark's national team in 4-way Open, who did compete at the Mondial. He switched to Valkyria when the team qualified for the event and needed an experienced videographer. Lars Naeve is an original AtomiX YUU member and joined Skymix for the world meet, together with AtomiX members Andrea Kleinschmidt and Janine Tillenburg.

The videographer's labor union was apparently initiated only for the 4-way Women event and did not include any female team videographers. There is still some work to do for the four original members...
