Did You Know...

... that Eclipse has become a AAA Class underdog for UK medals with the original 2010 A Class lineup?

Eclipse at the World Challenge 2016
posted Jul 21st, 2016 - Last weekend's 4-way events included the July meet of the United Kingdom Skydiving League at Skydive Hibaldstow, where 32 British teams contributed heavily to create a combined leaderboard with new record participation (71).

The Sun Path Products NSL News covered the international field on the AAA Class leaderboard with the story on July 18th. The French national team in 4-way Open and Satori XL caught most of the attention by posting world class scores in their run-up to the World Meet 2016.

The French B-Teams and the best U.S. team, Skydive Midwest Next, were also mentioned in the same story. However, there was another British team in Hibaldstow that has quietly moved up the UK rankings year by year and posted another team record average last weekend.

Eclipse 2010 - 2016
The Sun Path Products NSL News gave British 4-way team Eclipse full attention the last time on October 23rd, 2012. The team profile was posted at the end of the team's first year in the AAA Class, after a 2nd place in the A Class of 2010 and AA Class gold medals at the UK Nationals 2011.

Three years have gone by, and Eclipse still trains and competes with the original A Class lineup of 2010, only Dave Curtin was new on Eclipse camera last weekend. The 2016 season is Eclipse's 5th year in the AAA Class, and the scoring progression is still as consistent as it has been since 2010.

Eclipse has not been anywhere close to UK's AAA Class medal level at the national championships in the past. However, the scores and placements at this year's World Challenge indicated a new situation at the beginning of the 2016 season.

A Class team Eclipse in 2010
Satori XL and Vision 99 were still out of reach at Bodyflight Bedford, however, Eclipse was in the mix of British AAA Class teams in the internal battle for the spot behind the two top teams.

The outdoor season in the United Kingdom has shown only Satori XL out of Eclipse reach so far. Vision 99 has not competed yet, and 4mula finished with a 17.2 average at the May meet of the United Kingdom Skydiving League. Eclipse's 16.3 average after the six slower rounds is not that far behind.

Eclipse continued after the 6-round completion of the Hibaldstow meet and followed up with the four additional rounds in training. It was eventually a 17.2 average for Eclipse after ten rounds, which matches the 4mula number in May. Eclipse's original 2010 lineup could be in AAA Class medal contention for the first time in the 7-year team career...
