Did You Know...

... that the group of mixed-gender teams were the winners at the World Challenge?

posted Apr 12th, 2016 - The results of the poll that was set up during the aftermath of the 4-way Women competition at the World Challenge 2016 have not changed much.

The significant majority in favor of dropping the female 4-way category became a little bit stronger, while an actual discussion of the topic only took place on the Flowhouse TV platform on the second day of the competition.

The first input of a voter on the poll page has not initiated further discussion so far.

The discussion in Bedford and the results of the poll sparked the interest of the Sun Path Products NSL News even more and initiated a deeper research of the gender situation on the leaderboards. This time, the combined AAA Class leaderboard does not only focus on comparing the scores per round and the averages of all teams who performed the same competition draw.

The new combined leaderboard is presenting the teams literally more colorful. In fact, there are three different colors that represent three different categories. Blue is the color of the all-male lineups while pink still stands for the all-female teams. Yellow teams have mixed lineups with male and female competitors.

The results of the new research were quite surprising. The vast majority of teams (23) consisted of mixed lineups, while five of the six all-female teams had their own leaderboard. Only 12 teams were all-male lineups.

There seems to be a strong desire in 4-way competition to follow the passion and athletic ambition with mixed-gender lineups.

Even the top of the AAA Class leaderboard alone offers a colorful mixture.

NMP PCH Hayabusa is a blue all-male lineup, and the French FLY-IN Girls represent the pink group.

The French national team in 4-way Open has the third color for a mixed lineup.

The Top 10 have a healthy balance (5 - 4 - 2) between all three colors, as well.

It is an interesting coincidence that the votes of the poll against the female 4-way category (62%) are very close to the percentage (56%) of mixed-gender lineups in the AAA Class.

The boys with separate all-male lineups are even in the minority on the AA Class leaderboard, where the mixed teams dominate just as much as in the AAA Class (52%).

The top of the AA Class leaderboard is also colorful, with yellow on the very top.

The mixed A Class teams dominate the leaderboard even more than in all other categories. 72% of the A Class teams have all kind of combinations between the genders and ages.

The 4-way Rookies don't even have an all-male team on their leaderboard. Three teams have mixed-gender lineups, and the Vossvind Girls finished in 2nd place.

The total of all 82 teams consisted of 49 mixed-gender lineups (60%) and 13 teams were all-female (16%), 20 teams all-male (24%).
Mixed lineups won three of the four categories (Equinox - AA, Pro Team Extended - A, Heavenly Creepers - Rookie), while NMP PCH Hayabusa won gold for the boys in the AAA Class.

All-male teams won one set of gold medals (AAA), silver in the AA Class and bronze in the A Class. All-female teams took home three sets of silver medals (AAA - AA - Rookie). Mixed-gender teams won three sets of gold medals (AA - A - Rookie), silver in the A Class, and bronze in AA and Rookie Class. It seems like the mixed teams are the winners...
