NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Ex3mo and Energy joined forces in Ex3energy?

Italy's national 4-way champions: Ex3mo
posted Sep 28th, 2015 - The Sun Path Products NSL News brought the reunion of the Italian 4-way Woman team Kewara to the attention of the audience on September 25th. The former national team at the world meets in 2003 and 2004 came back this year and placed 3rd at the Italian Nationals 2015.

The same story mentioned that the two teams in front of Kewara (Ex3mo, Energy Cumiana) went on to compete at the FAI World Cup 2015, where Kewara could have been in contention for silver medals in 4-way Woman.

Ex3mo, Italy's national 4-way team in the Open Class since 2011, won the national championships again this year and will compete at the team's third consecutive world meet in 2016. Energy Cumiana has moved closer to Ex3mo after the 2nd place in 2014 with a 21-point difference. However, Ex3mo still carried a 9-point advantage over the finish line at this year's nationals.

Cuts under scrutiny: Open IPC meeting in Teuge
Energy moved even closer at the World Cup 2015 in Teuge, where Ex3mo had only a 3-point lead over Energy after Round 8. The cut for the semifinals then eliminated Energy, while Ex3mo continued with Round 9. Ex3mo's 11-pointer in the semifinals might have offered Energy even the opportunity to catch up with Ex3mo and create an internal Italian showdown in the last round. However, the current FAI/IPC rules cut the number of teams to ten after Round 8 and to six after Round 9.

The open meeting of the IPC Formation Skydiving Commission after the conclusion of the World Cup in Teuge included the topic of the cuts for semifinals and finals. The current rules are under scrutiny, as several teams and competitors have expressed their disagreement with the cuts.

Facts in Teuge were Energy Cumiana's exit after Round 8 and Ex3mo's after Round 9 with the cut for the finals.

Both Italian teams (123 - 120) were not only in a battle with each other. M4trix from the Netherlands (120), VAF Warriors from Denmark (118) and UK team Eclipse (118) were also in the race for a slot in the semifinals of the European Championships after Round 7. Energy and Eclipse did not make it.

Ex3mo, M4trix and VAF Warriors were then surprisingly eliminated by German team AtomiX YUU in Round 9, who ended up as the 6th European national team in the finals.

Ex3mo and Energy still moved on to the 10th round in a different event. The two Italian 4-way teams joined forces in 8-way and competed under Ex3energy. All six participating teams completed the ten rounds without any cuts, and Ex3mEnergy finished in 5th place.
