... that the Northern Plains have to paypal a case of beer to Texas?

Owe beer: NPSL team Free Radicals
posted Jul 27th, 2015 - The teams of the Northern Plains Skydiving League completed their 6-round meet in all four categories on Sunday. NPSL Director Al BeVier said that his teams and competitors enjoyed the live atmosphere of the competition on Saturday, when the teams at the Texas Shootout competed at the same time.

Meet Director Devon Shows, Spaceland Lite member, made the scores from Texas available round by round, which gave all teams the opportunity to compare directly at any time. Al BeVier said that it added to the usual meet atmosphere: "Good times had by all."

There was even more behind the indirect competition between the teams at the two events. AAA Class teams Texas Crush and Free Radicals had created their own rivalry prior to the meet. Al BeVier reported that his team had to pay for the bet at the end: "Sadly, Texas Crush did exactly that and Free Radicals will PayPal a case (of beer) to the email address chosen by Texas Crush (sniff, tear drop)..."

Dallas 350 at the USPA Nationals 2014
Texas actually won the competition in all categories where both events had teams listed. The Northern Plains had their own leaderboard in the A Class, while the teams in Texas staid on top in the AAA, AA and Rookie categories.

It is not a big surprise that Texas won last weekend's competition. The Lone Star State has generated USPA medal winners year by year, and there is no doubt that it will not be much different at the USPA Nationals 2015. In fact, the first update of last weekend's competition introduced one of the potential 2015 contenders, Heart of Texas.

Two teams from Texas won AAA/Advanced Class gold (Dallas 350) and bronze (Dallas Khaos Black) at the USPA Nationals 2014. Spaceland SPX5 won the gold medals in the AA/Intermediate Class. Four other teams from Texas competed in the same category.

Spaceland Lite at the USPA Nationals 2011
It is only the AAA/Open Class where Texas has not produced a USPA medal winner in the recent years. Spaceland Lite won the AAA/Advanced Class gold medals in 2011 and then had to compete in the AAA/Open Class, due to the USPA rules and regulations.

Lite has represented Texas year by year in the top category, where some of the best teams and competitors in the world share the medals between themselves as full time skydivers and competitors.

Dallas 350 will join Spaceland Lite in a similar situation this year. They won the AAA/Advanced Class gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2014 and have to move up into the AAA/Open Class. That's where they will meet Spaceland Lite and compete for the 4-way top spot in Texas...
