Did You Know...

... that Norway's first indoor nationals brought together all generations of 4-way competitors?

VossVind Girls with Trude Sviggum at the World Challenge 2015
posted Apr 19th, 2015 - The latest indoor leaderboard has brought new scores and information from Norway to the Sun Path Products NSL News audience.

15 teams competed at Norway's first national indoor championships, which was hosted by the wind tunnel in Voss. It was a celebration of the long Norwegian history in Formation Skydiving competition, with teams and competitors of all ages and experience levels.

The youngest team had just posted a 16.0 average in the A Class competition of the World Challenge 2015. The VossVind Girls had placed 5th in the 19-team field in Bedford's 16-foot flying chamber and were back in VossVind's 14-footer with a 16.4 average after eight rounds this weekend. Trude Sviggum, Norwegian bronze medalist with Polaris at the Mondial Dubai 2012 and Chair of IPC's Formation Skydiving committee, mentioned before the World Challenge 2015 that the VossVind Girls teenagers would compete in Bedford.

She also said that she had another surprise for the Sun Path Products NSL News, which would lead the audience in the opposite direction. Norway's first national team at a World Championship of Formation Skydiving in 4-way Women was planning a reunion at the national indoor championships.

2001 team member Ditta Valsdottir confirmed the plans during a live interview with the interesting Tenanines lineup in Bedford. The reunion materialized this weekend, when Ine Mørch, Line Søvik, Trude Sviggum and Ditta Valsdottir finished with a 14.5 average for the Norgie Girls, who competed under "40 + & Fabulous" at VossVind.

Norgie Girls/TNT in 2001
There was much more history at the Norwegian indoor championships. Two other lineups with former world class competitors from Norway enjoyed a 3-point battle for the 1st place in the AAA Class competition, including almost the complete DeLand Norgies lineup between 1999 and 2003.

Pål Kolbenstvedt joined forces with his 8-way team mate of 1995, Espen Evensen, plus Trude Sviggum's Polaris 2012 team mates Ellen Kathrine Burchardt and Kristine Marie Willadsen. Polaris 1995 won by three points over two other DeLand Norgies members (Lise Nansen, Torstein Valen), the 4th Polaris member Sissel Maria Finnseth and Lise Nansen's husband Nicolai. Only the 4th Norgies member Carl-Erik Tuv missed the competitive reunion.

Most of the Polaris, Norgies and Norgie Girls also guided other A Class lineups though the indoor competition. The VossVind Girls ended up behind the two A Class player coach teams who have battled with each other at outdoor meets in Norway in the past. Pål Kolbenstvendt won with his Penguins lineup after a 1-point battle with Lise Nansen and her Swingers. Last and not least, even former IPC delegate and Formation Skydiving pioneer Pal Bergan joined the 4-way celebration with a less competitive lineup. He finished in 7th place of the A Class competition (SWAMP) with a 7.1 average.
