Did You Know...

... that Hot Flash gave Funnel Approach a hot competition in Texas?

posted Jul 3rd, 2009 - Seven teams attended the second meet of the Texas Skydiving League 2009 season at Skydive Dallas last weekend and almost matched the attendance of the season opener at Skydive Spaceland. Two teams from Spaceland (BS5, Funnel Approach) visited Skydive Dallas after a season start with only home teams from Spaceland at the May meet, except Hot Flash.

All home teams from Dallas attended their first competition this year, while BS5, Funnel Approach and Hot Flash posted their second set of meet scores. Both visiting teams from Spaceland took the first places in their categories, BS5 in the AA Class and Funnel Approach in the Rookie Class. AAA Class team Dallas 4 Schzl was alone in the AAA Class on site and competed with MASL team Cross Keys Blue on the weekend's overall leaerboard.

BS5 (7.0 - 7.3) and Funnel Approach (7.5 - 8.3) both also did well on foreign territory and scored higher compared to the season opener on home turf at Spaceland.

The most significant improvement was shown by Rookie Class team Hot Flash, which has its home neither at Spaceland nor at Dallas. The four ladies (Kara Latimer, Marty "LadyBug" Mahoney, Lori Mitchell, Marian Sparks, with Jason "Shaggy" Scharf on camera) had posted a 3.5 average at the TSL season opener in May and now followed up with a 6.2 average after last weekend's six rounds at Skydive Dallas.

Hot Flash actually offered some serious competition for Funnel Approach this time. Only a zero in Round 3 created a distance that Hot Flash could not make up for. However, the recovery ended with the highscore for Round 6. The outcome of the TSL June meet promises more exciting Rookie Class competition in Texas.

Dallas Vertical Velocity joined the Rookie Class competition last weekend and completed the TSL sweep in this category. Only the 4th place remained for N Between from the MidAtlantic Skydiving League last weekend.

The next TSL meet will take place on the Hot Flash home turf at Skydive Houston on July 25.
