Did You Know...

... that the German Nationals 2014 are very interesting despite the bad weather?

Airbus 4-way lineup with coach Solly Williams and videographer Justin Price
posted Sep 5th, 2014 - The weather situation at the German Nationals 2014 has not changed much, and the teams are still waiting to resume the competition. It is unlikely that the meet can be completed with all rounds, and the German participants of the FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014 are experiencing an even more unfortunate situation.

It's bad luck, especially as the competition promises to be very interesting in many ways. Team Airbus has shown in the first two rounds what the new combination of deep 4-way and 8-way experience (Olaf Biedermann, Goran Meyer - Rear piece) with talent and energy (Thomas Mack, Christian Schafer - Front piece) is capable of.

It was to be expected that Airbus is probably the strongest German 4-way team at the moment, even stronger than the German national 4-way team that competed in Prostejov, Paratec-Saar. The Airbus members are eager to show the results of this year's training and the starting point for the next two years.

Airbus 8-way lineup at the German Nationals 2014
The coming two years will be an exciting race for the best two German 4-way teams, who are both aiming at the World Meet 2016 in the USA. It will actually be only a 1-year race between Paratec-Saar and Airbus since the German Nationals 2015 will be the qualifyer for the next world meet in two years.

However, the national teams of other countries will also have to keep an eye on the Germans, who were on the way to the 6th place and the last slot in the finals already in Prostejov. Two more years with the same lineup may lift either team into a very strong position as a contender for the world's unofficial amateur champion title.

The Airbus 4-way lineup also competes in 8-way at the German Nationals and has no serious competition. Solly Williams, Dieter Kirsch, Uli Sehrbrock, Dieter Schwarz and Thomas Spielvogel share the four open slots, and Alexander "Dude" Hau is on camera.

5th place in 2001: Mike Vetter (2nd left) with GoJump X-Ray Gransee
The new InTime meet videos are also showing the tight competition behind the undisputed leader. Five teams are in the race for the silver medals after two rounds, including the Chicas, who have their own leaderboard in Germany, together with two other teams in 4-way Women.

AtomiX is the youngest and newest German top contender that the Sun Path Products NSL News introduced on 26 May 2014. AtomiX has a 5-year plan to get to the very top in Germany.

GoJump X-Ray Gransee has some of the longest standing 4-way and 8-way competitors in the lineup, including Mike Vetter, who placed higher than any other German 4-way competitor in history - with the Swiss national team Endeavour at the World Meet 2001 in Spain. X-Ray was expected to be the top contender for silver medals and had a bad start after exit troubles and point deductions. And then there is Thomas "Spieli" Spielvogel with the Usual Suspects - the German legend in Formation Skydiving competition, now live on NSL-TV...
