Did You Know...

... that the judges had a "soft acquisition" for the first Fun Flag possession in history?

Scott Janise guards the Fun Flag for the US delegation
posted Aug 30th, 2014 - The FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2014 has arrived at the last day of competition.

The weather situation is critical and not very stabil, while there are a few more rounds to be completed.

The FAI Jury accepted a requst by the host in Prostejov to extend the schedule by an hour to possibly complete all competition rounds. It has become a race against the time.

The weather cooperated well in the earlier hours of the morning, and there is a good chance for the completion of the meet.

It's time for a Fun Flag update, as the world meet comes to a close quite soon, and the Fun Flag activities have been going on well and creatively.

Norwegian Fun Flag freeflyers in Prostejov
This has been quite a trip around the world for the Fun Flag since it was flying last time at the World Cup 2013 in Banja Luka. The Norwegian Freeflying team (Marius Sotberg, Rune Antonsen, Arne Helge Andersen) had possession of the Fun Flag ever since. Marius Sotberg reported that they did not think of sending it to the Paraclete XP Outdoor Championship or the World Challenge:

"We took the flag after paying off some guards and climbing a slippery building during the last days of the World Cup in Bosnia. I am very sorry the flag did not make it to Bedford. I don’t actually know how but it went to Japan with Arne instead. So its been busy. Apparently its not a sushi fan..."

His team was planning to bring it to Prostejov, however, they kindly sent it earlier to Arizona Airspeed's 20-year anniversary celebrations in Eloy.

Funnest judges in history...
It remained in US possession until arrival in Prostejov and made the trip together with the two Excalibur swords, which were also in the USA, the 4-way sword with Arizona Airspeed and the 8-way sword with the Golden Knights.

The Fun Flag has been in the center of attention in Prostejov and changed hands several times. In fact, the last day of a Fun Flag event usually increases the efforts to take the last possession of it. The latest update came from the judging area where a "soft acquisition" was reported by InTime owner and meet judge Dirk Venter.

It's the first time in history that the judges had the Fun Flag possession. Judging veteran Thierry Courtin had ordered world meet rookie judge Jim Rees to go after the Fun flag, and Jim Rees followed through with the plan for the takeover. He did not have too much work, as dirk Venter said, but the Fun Flag was in judges' possession - for about an hour...
