Did You Know...

... that the DeLand Bees posted three 8-pointers at the DeLand 4way Scrambles?

DeLand Bees with coach Robert Chromy
posted Jan 12th, 2014 - The DeLand Bees appeared on the SKYLEAGUE.COM leaderboard for the first time in November 2012 when they posted a 3.2 average after five rounds at their first competition, the NSL Championship of SkyQuest Florida 2012.

They tried to complete more competition rounds in 2013 but were held back by bad Florida weather in May when they traveled once again from Georgia to DeLand. The Bees came back a month later and finished with a 4.2 average after six rounds in June. The Bees also came back for the NSL Championship at SkyQuest Florida 2013 and finished with a 5.0 average after six rounds.

The highest score for the team from Georgia in a single round were four 6-pointers in 2013, and the Bees set ta high goal for 2014: They want to score their first 10-pointer. This weekend, they started out well for a busier competition season this year. The DeLand 4way Scramble gave the Bees the opportunity to post 8-pointers in three of the four rounds.

Four team jumps for the DeLand 4way Scrambles winner
Three scrambled lineups came together on Sunday morning, while the DeLand Bees were registered as a guest team. Organizer Hal Spence had more than 20 registered scramblers for Saturday, which was the originally scheduled event date. Bad skydiving weather did not allow any activities on Saturday, however, enough scramblers for three lineups came back to try again on Sunday.

Several participants of the DeLand 4way Scrambles were regular competitors for Florida's Indoor Cloud League group at iFLY Orlando and were warming up for the coming outdoor season. The Florida group has the next indoor session scheduled for Monday evening at iFLY Orlando.

Indoor participants Randy Cutlip and Darla Martinelli were also in the winning Scrambles lineup. Skydive DeLand rewarded the winning team with four team jumps, including the video slot, which made it a free jumping day for the team in 1st place. The annual Z-Scrambles at Skydive City are next on February 1st.
