Did You Know...

... that Dubai Asaar suffered controversial point deductions in Round 6?

Dubai Asaar Satellite in Round 6
posted Dec 4th, 2013 - The 8way competition at the 4th Dubai International Parachuting Championship 2013 has become much more exciting than the host may have hoped for. The Monaco Vitalsea 8way team cut the distance to Dubai Asaar's 8way lineup from five points after Round 5 to one single point after the two jumps on Wednesday.

Monaco Vitalsea benefited from a very controversial 2-point deduction that the judges assigned to the Dubai home team for the way they built their Satellites of Block 13 in Round 6. Dubai Asaar built clean and well shaped formations throughout the whole 50-second working time. However, two of the Satellites on the second page were not to the liking of three judges.

The 2-point deduction helped to bring the Monaco 8way team three points closer to the top of the leaderboard in Round 6, even though other Dubai and Monaco Satellites looked very similar or the same as the ones that were busted on those two occasions. Competitors and coaches were puzzled trying to figure out what of the specific presentation was unacceptable for the judges.

Rounds 6 and 7
Puzzled after the point deductions: Dubai Asaar 8way team
It became a 1-point battle between Dubai Asaar and Monaco Vitalsea when the 8way veterans picked up another point in Round 7. Fly Tanay from Russia had a strong Round 6 but could not carry the momentum into the next round as the Monaco team did.

However, Dubai Asaar, still with Craig Girard in the active lineup, recovered well from the strange 2-point loss in Round 6 and came back with a good round. Eliana Rodriguez provided the Sun Path Products NSL News with feedback from the Dubai Asaar side while the team was preparing for the upcoming rounds.

Tomorrow will be a 4way day, and the 8way teams will have their day off and get ready for the exciting 3-round finish. Everything is possible after Round 7...
