Did You Know...

... that the Northwest Skydiving League gains momentum at iFLY Seattle?

Indoor Cloud League October group at iFLY Seattle
posted Nov 3rd, 2013 - The Indoor Cloud League competition for the month of October is over, and the new sequences for November are posted. Deb Correia's Northwest Skydiving League group at iFLY Seattle won last month and is now tied in 1st place with Florida at iFLY Orlando. Both groups have won five months each, and the original duel that started the Indoor Cloud League continues for the top position of the current ICL leaderboard, which now includes five different teams.

Deb Correia reported from iFLY Seattle that her group held their main event on October 24th. She had 11 participants, and all of them had attended at least one Indoor Cloud League competition before. They were organized in four different lineups.

Monica Aikins, Kelli Alspach and D'Arcy Kaaua were flying with player coach Carolyn Chow at iFLY Seattle. Jay Alspach, Jeremy Eggum and Charles Wesley had Dave Correia in their lineup. Sopurkh Khalsa, Bill Selig and Michael Simpson flew with coach David Zhang. Babs Selig and Daisy Thompson posted Rookie AA Class scores with coaches Deb Correia and David Zhang.

In addition to the main event on October 24th, Carolyn Chow and Deb Correia were also coaching at the Sisters in Skydiving (SIS) Retreat at iFLY Seattle on October 19 and 20 and were able to do several of the sequences with some of the groups.

Deb Correia said that the Rookie A Class score came from a flying session of Carolyn Chow and herself with Cindy Stroup from Spokane, WA, and Angela Strohman from Redding, CA.

On top of that, Carolyn Chow and Deb Correia also had the opportunity to fly the AA and AAA Class sequences with Melanie Curtis and Brianne Thompson, who both visited from Arizona. This lineup turned in very impressive scores. The 24-pointer for the AA Class sequence turned out to be the game maker and winner for iFLY Seattle over Florida at iFLY Orlando.

Both sequences could have been drawn in any AAA Class competition, and the ICL rules allow the same lineup to perform in two neighboring categories. Ari Perelman had two different lineups in AAA and AA, and Florida lost by seven points in the AA Class. The Northwest group won by five points (120 - 115).

Deb Correia said that the Indoor Cloud League events at iFLY Seattle are becoming more and more popular: "The October event filled up in less than three hours after it was posted, and we've already filled two events for November. We look forward to a lot more flying through the winter!"

It sounds like Florida is in trouble and has to find a way to fight back. There are two more months until the final Indoor Cloud League account of the 2014 season will determine the overall winner for the year. With currently five participating groups, each month's winner earns five ICL points, down to one point for the 5th place. Northwest and Florida still have to agree on the tie-breaking system that may become relevant at the end of December...
