NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that the new French 8way lineup is in training action this week?

8way gold medals in 2006, 2008, 2010: French 2006 lineup with Jeremie Rollett
posted Mar 28th, 2013 - The NSL News reported on 31 January 2013 that France has a 50% makeover in 4way and followed up with an introduction of the two new team members on 9 February 2013.

French national coach Jeremie Rollett, himself 8way world champion of 2006 and 2008 and 4way world champion of 2010, also explained earlier this year that he will take his time to develop a good plan for the future of French 8way competition.

France had won three consecutive 8way gold medals in 2006, 2008 and 2010 before losing to the Golden Knights at the Mondial Dubai 2012.

He told the NSL News that he will continue with the 2012 lineup throughout the World Cup 2013 and work on the 8way plans in the meantime.

New members of 2010: Thomas Perrin Gachadoat, Julien Olek, Arnaud Mille
The plans are complete now, and it did not take very long for the French coach and his new national 8way competitors to take action. Jeremie Rollett and 8way member of 2010 and 2012 Thomas Perrin Gachadoat are currently training with the new lineup at Paraclete XP.

They confirmed that the 2012 lineup will represent France one more time at the World Cup and European Championship 2013 in Banjaluka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and will then be replaced with the new lineup.

The 8way world champions of 2010 and silver medalists of 2012 will have one 50-jump training week before the competition in August, while the new lineup has much bigger plans for the 2013 season.

Jeremie Rollett said that the six members of the new team will complete nine hours of indoor training this week with himself and Thomas Perrin Gachadoat as player coaches.

Then the new and young French 8way competitors will add 250 training jumps in Maubeuge and also compete at the World Cup in August, together with the complete 2012 lineup.

Six new 8way members with player coaches this week at Paraclete XP
France once again applies the comprehensive support and selection system that has generated world champions in 4way and 8way over and over again.

The six new members (Antoine Leleu, Nicolas David, Kevin Mansion, Charles Rommel, Mathieu Despres, Mathieu Cannesson) have trained and competed with the French 4way B-teams in the past years and now get their earned slots in the national 8way team.

The same procedure was applied earlier when Jeremie Rollett selected the new team members for the national female lineup and the 4way team in the Open Class.

This week is not only the final selection of the new 8way members. Thomas Perrin Gachadoat said that it is actually the first training week at the same time since most or possibly all of this week's members will end up in the new national lineup.

He added that a few members of the previous 2012 lineup will continue with the new team, and he did not know yet who it will be.

It's a big change in France. The 2012 members in 4way and 8way have been representing France for many years. Thomas Perrin Gachadoat is one of the newest members who was in one of the B-teams before he was selected for the 8way lineup after the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge, together with Arnaud Mille and Julien Olek.

Only the French national female lineup has seen several changes in the same time period and also started the newest rotation, followed by the changes in the 4way Open Class lineup.

No new B-team members have been selected for the French national 4way and 8way teams since 2009, and up to ten new slots (two in 4way Women, two in 4way Open, up to six in 8way) is a big number.

Antoine Leleu, Charles Rommel, Mathieu Despres and Mathieu Cannesson trained and competed in last year's two B-team lineups.

Nicolas David was Christine Malnis' team mate with Amethys-Maubeuge. Only Kevin Mansion is a new name, and the NSL News will follow up with additional information.
