Did You Know...

... that Airspeed Odyssey is 15 - 0 in two years?

Jack Jefferies observes the dirtdive for Round 10
posted Oct 21st, 2008 - All teams completed ten rounds in the early afternoon, and Airspeed Odyssey did it again, this time with a 24.2 average and seven points over France Maubeuge. This makes it a 15 - 0 record for the 4-way world champions over a 2-year period. In other words: Airspeed Odyssey competed at 15 different indoor and outdoor competitions ever since this lineup was founded and won every single time. Does that say enough?

The NSL News followed Airspeed Odyssey around when it was time for the final round. Jack Jefferies observed the team's preparations and likes the way the team engineers the sequences. Mark Kirkby said that he got much more sleep last night, ten hours this time. The NSL-TV camera captured a happy and well rested face. Mark Kirkby has looked beat up quite a few times in the past when the NSL News met him at meets - broken noses, black eyes...

Happy and healthy and well rested Mark Kirkby
Unfortunately, NSL-TV missed the actual video of Airspeed's last round. However, the NSL News re-connected with the team right after landing from the last 4-way jump, which finalized the victory with a 26-pointer and another highscore, shared with France this time. Congratulations to the old and new USPA national champion in the Open Class. The award ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 pm today.

The according video clips can all be found at the bottom of this page. There are already links to other new videos, as well, and the NSL News will follow up later.

The 8-way competition begins tomorrow, and Airspeed Odyssey will once again compete with other Airspeed members of the past years. The 8-way lineup will be introduced later.

First project meeting in DeLand

Omniskore - NSL News - PD Blog triangle

The NSL News - Omniskore cooperation at the USPA Nationals 2008 has worked as smoothly as usual, and we will let the scores and the videos speak for themselves for a little. More updates will follow later today and are already in the works.

The event coverage has actually turned into a triangle, as the NSL/PD News Show has been very successful, as well. PD Blogger Kolla Kolbeinsdottir and "Technical Director" Morten Pedersen reported that the traffic on the PD Blog website has increased dramatically since the project was launched.

It all began with an idea and a brainstorming meeting in the NSL office in DeLand. Result is now an ongoing news coverage mostly based on short clips. Kolla Kolbeinsdottir and Morten Pedersen are covering an area that neither Omniskore nor NSL News would be able to handle due to the work load at a big event. NSL News and NSL-TV have always included interviews and clips of the event environment. However, the character of the PD Blog shows are very different, very interesting and entertaining. It is really worth visiting the special website for this purpose once in a while and check for some new updates there.

Kurt Isenberger and Matt Davidson
Today's NSL/PD Daily News and the Night Swoop are already in the works, while the NSL News continues with normal operation. Today's focus was on uploading as many meet videos as possible since the competition jumps in Eloy offer the best of the best. There is an unlimited amount of information and more than enough opportunities for all kind of different stories. The Omniskore/NSL News/PD Blog triangle will try to cover as much as possible.

A new and very short PD Blog clip has just been uploaded. It offers a few words of Golden Knights Kurt Isenberger and Matt Davidson before Round 10. The Army team was one point ahead of Perris Fury for the silver medal position and lost the last round by four points. The 23 points within working time would have been enough at least for a jump-off. Two point deductions reduced the score to 21 points, and Perris Fury wins silver. The video clip of the interview can be viewed by clicking here.

NPSL team Slipstream

Exciting finish in the Intermediate Class

No changes in the Open Class competition. Perris Fury and the Golden Knights battle for the silver medals and are currently separated by one single point. Perris Katalyst and Butta Bing compete for the bronze medals in the Advanced Class. The three sets of medals in the Intermediate Class seem to be going certain directions, as well. The difference is the fact that everything was still possible between R4, Air Force Encore and Slipstream.

Only R4 and Encore survived the slow sequence of Round 7 with 2-digit scores, which might indicate who will end up in the two top positions at the end. Slipstream eneded up with a 9-pointer.

Round 8 confirmed this tendency and may have put things in place. NSL-TV was able to capture the video of the three teams in the top positions. R4 from California increased the lead and is now five points ahead of the Air Force team. Slipstream still has a chance to catch up with Encore. The NPSL team needs two good rounds...

Advanced Class top contender CSC Rhythm XP, with coach Kirk Verner of Paraclete XP

Centerline XP interview

It is a slower Tuesday morning for the 4-way teams in Eloy after the seven rounds yesterday. CReW teams had the early start, and the 4-way teams could take it a little bit easier. The first loads are now going up for Round 8. There are a few rejumps to be done, and the leaderboards will be completed very soon.

The NSL News ran into two members of Centerline XP, currently in the silver medal position of the Advanced Class competition. Brian Smith and Justin Beaudreau took a few minutes for a quick interview in front of the NSL-TV camera.

Justin Beaudreau and Brian Smith
It has been a tough competition for Centerline, as the team had the gold medals in mind. CSC Rhythm XP is simply too strong to keep up with over the whole ten rounds. Rhythm even beats a third of the Open Class teams.

However, Centerline won two rounds, and one of these two rounds was the 1000th jump for 21-year old Justin Beaudreau, congratulations. Brian Smith will have his second baby very soon, congratulations, too.

By the way, Mark Kirkby's family, Sandy and baby boy Nathan, are following the action in Eloy very carefully. Sandy e-mailed that Mark did not get too much sleep the night before the first competition day when Nathan pulled his first "all nighter crying spell". Well, the Airspeed Tail managed this challenge very well, as the current leaderboard shows.
