Did You Know...

... that both Excalibur swords travel to the USA?

From the French perspective: Martial Ferre for Veloce.com
posted Dec 8th, 2012 - The Mondial Dubai 2012 is slowly winding down. The award ceremony for the Formation Skydiving events took place on Friday evening. No nation was able to copy the French sweep of 2010.

The gold medals were evenly divided between the USA and France. Arizona Airspeed won the 4way Open Class competition and did not have a team from France next on the podium in the silver medal spot. NMP-PCH Hayabusa won the first silver medals for Belgium in this event. The Golden Knights won the gold medals in the second most traditional Formation Skydiving event, the 8way competition, and both Excalibur swords travel to the USA.

France had to settle for the gold medals in the two newer Formation Skydiving events, the female 4way category (Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders) and the VFS 4way competition (Team4speed). The latest NSL-TV clip was once again provided by Martial Ferre who presents the grande finale in the female 4way competition from the French perspective. The meet videos show the Top 6 teams in Round 7.

8way award ceremony
It was still the French Marceillaise that was played most often during all award ceremonies of the Mondial Dubai 2012, as German national coach Mathias Maushake summed it up for the NSL News. He was helping in the event management and also provided the overview of all medal winners.

France won eight sets of gold medals, while the USA took six first places of the 27 events. Seven different countries won gold medals, and competitors from 12 additional countries won the rest of the three sets of medals for each event.

The last award ceremony for the Accuracy events took place this morning, and the official closing festivities are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. They will be followed by live concerts with Katy Perry and Usher.

The host expects 14,000 spectators in the stadium for the closing ceremony with fireworks and the concert. Then it will be all over, and the delegations will travel back home on Sunday.
