Did You Know...

... that the opening ceremony included a BASE jump from a cannon?

Swooping pond with a landing canopy pilot
posted Dec 3rd, 2012 - The NSL News coverage of the Mondial 2012 on Tuesday begins with a delay due to equipment trouble. The problems were fixed with a little help of some NSL friends and supporters (Craig Girard, Martial Ferre).

The NSL TV camera captured some of the Canopy Piloting action from the view of a judge near the pond. Former DeLand Fire 4way world champion and world class swooper Ian Bobo was on his way to the next round and had a few words for the NSL News. He was in 5th place of the overall rankings at the time of the NSL Talk.

The latest NSL Reality TV clip also brings back some of the afternoon action on Sunday when the 4way teams had their turn with Round 5. Then it turns to the opening ceremony, which took place on Sunday evening in a stadium next to the dropzone that was built just for the event and the show.

Opening ceremony of the Mondial Dubai 2012
The stadium was filled to the last seat with the teams and competitors. Members and friends of the Emir's family and the Crown Prince had their seats in the prime area of the stadium, while other spectators could watch the ceremony on the large screens at the dropzone.

The ceremony was impressive, just as everything in Dubai offers something special for the visitors, and it was a smaller version of the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games. Not much smaller though...

The introduction of all delegations and fireworks concluded the festivities early enough for the teams and competitors to get enough sleep for the competition action on Monday. The 4way teams had to come back early in the morning. VFS and 8way were scheduled for Monday afternoon.
