Did You Know...

... that the ISR Grand Prix 2012 will have record attendance?

45 Registered teams at the moment
posted Oct 18th, 2012 - It was a goal with high hopes at the beginning, and it has turned into a fact by now: The ISR Grand Prix 2012 will have record participation in November. 45 teams have registered for this year's indoor competition in Roosendaal, and the event is still more than five weeks away.

It's the 3rd time that this event takes place, and it attracted 19 teams to Roosendaal in the Netherlands in 2010 and 41 in 2011. The number of teams in the AA Class competition is already the highest one in the history of the event, while the AAA Class participation is higher than in 2010 and growing.

However, the biggest change has increased the participation in the other two categories, the A Class and the Rookie Class. The ISR Grand Prix 2012 introduces all four NSL categories for the first time, and the move shows the first results before the competition has begun.

23.0 average in 2010: Murphy Mania
The inaugural 2010 event offered an A Class competition, which actually applied a Rookie Class draw with only Random Formations, as the 2010 leaderboard shows. Six teams signed up for this category, including Murphy Mania who competed in the A Class throughout the outdoor season. Murphy Mania was not prepared for the AA Class dive pool and decided to post some exciting scores in the Rookie Class finishing with a 23.0 average.

No Rookie Class team could keep up with Murphy Mania in 2010, and the Dutch team moved up into the AA Class competition in 2011, at outdoor and indoor meets.

The situation was similar at the ISR Grand Prix 2011. The same category with sequences of only three Random Formations now had the proper name, and 20 teams competed in the Rookie Class. However, the same mix of actual Rookie Class and A Class teams were still shown on the same leaderboard, and the meet averages were between 5.0 (TOT) and 25.4 (DNAOUT). Several A Class teams of the 2011 outdoor season posted high indoor scores in the Rookie Class, as they felt more home in this category and not in the AA Class.

A Class in 2012: Blue Rebels from Greece
The ISR Grand Prix 2012 is now offering a home category for each team and matches the same format of the four competition classes that the teams are used to at the outdoor meets.

The introduction of the real A Class for the first time at this event has now separated the teams who know the first eight blocks from the real beginners in 4way competition. The field of 16 teams so far in the A Class includes several teams who have competed in this category in 2012, including the Blue Rebels from Greece who had also traveled to Belgium for the ESL Championship 2012.

The real Rookie Class has also nine teams registered at the moment, which is higher than in 2010. The winning average in the Rookie Class will not be on such an incredibly high level as in the first two years and make the competition more exciting, while the A Class competition is very promising. The 16 teams are coming from five different nations. It would be no surprise if the number of participating teams went above 50 before November 24th.
