Did You Know...

... that Finland looks back at a successful 2012 season and expects growing participation in 2013?

Silver medals for Honeymoon
posted Sep 3rd, 2012 - This year's 4way competition season in Finland is over. League manager Marko Saaresto reported that the last meet was completed in familiar cloudy but chilly weather. The annual Utti Money Meet, a cash prize competition organized by Jarmo Rossi, was another great and last opportunity for the teams and individuals to prove their skills at the end of the season.

The five 4way teams, five VFS teams, two Freeflying lineups and nine accuracy competitors made this local competitive event second only to the national championships. Marko Saaresto said that the meet had a very lighthearted atmosphere in general, as it came after the Finnish Nationals 2012. It even attracted the revered Pro Team and some ad-hoc teams to make an appearance in Utti.

Finnish league medals for the 2012 season
The Utti Money Meet also concluded the Finnish FS league competition. Marko Saaresto said that after a total of five meets, including the national championships, the undisputed league winner was Umpa Lumpa: "They were also the most actively competing team of the 2012 season. The silver medals were awarded to Honeymoon and the bronze ones to Kutina."

The newly founded competition league counted a total of 16 different teams, with some repeat members, who participated in the 2012 season: " We had everything from eager rookie newbies to seasoned heroes."

Marko Saaresto and his helping hands in Finland are looking forward to seeing even more participation in 2013: "With tunnel camps coming up during the winter, new Basic and Team Camps in the works, a new tunnel just having opened in St Petersburg and more activities we are very excited about the future of Finnish Formation Skydiving." Now the long winter is coming to Scandinavia, and the growing FS community will eagerly be waiting for the beginning of the 2013 season.
