Did You Know...

... that the Qatar Tigers posted a 15.9 average in Germany?

National coach Mathias "Mausi" Maushake checks the numbers
posted Jul 17th, 2012 - The latest additions to last weekend's leaderboard came from Germany where national coach Mathias "Mausi" Maushake organized the Aero Cup at his home DZ in Kassel-Calden. It was the last test for the two German teams for the national championships in August, while four lineups from Qatar finished up their training camp with the competition.

The NSL News had introduced Gamma Ray Kassel with the story on 3 June 2012. The German team now improved the meet average from 13.7 after nine rounds in June to 15.4 last weekend after seven rounds. Gamma Ray will probably need another push between now and the German Nationals to get to the medal rankings this year. Paratec-Saar, ISB Air Remscheid and Dynamite are the top contenders for the first three places.

Awards for the Qatar delegation in Germany
There was not enough good weather and time to complete all ten rounds. However, the teams were eager to get to Round 10 which had a sequence of only random formations. Organizer Mathias Maushake eventually decided to skip from Round 7 to Round 10, and the teams had the opportunity to test their skills in this area of 4way performance.

It was the first time this year that CamScore generated a sequence of only random formation for the weekly NSL competition draw. The Qatar Tigers mastered the sequence (F,O,K,J,C) with a 36-pointer, and Gamma Ray posted a 29-pointer after two point deductions. The A Class teams had their first fast sequence in Round 6 (A,M,C) and Round 10 was the second and the even faster (F,O,K) opportunity.

Qatar 8way team at training work
The Qatar Tigers have used the training time between the end of the 2011 season (13.5 - 14.0 - 14.4) successfully. The 15.9 average in Germany last weekend without the Super Sequence in Round 10 and outscoring the German top team are great achievements and shows the national team from Qatar in good shape for the showdown with neighbor Dubai and the rest of the world at the World Meet 2012.

The Qatar Falcons used to challenge the Tigers throughout the 2011 season with alternate Max Thiele of the German national team Paratec-Saar. The Falcons now competed in the A Class, together with two other lineups from Qatar. It seems like the country's hope is now solely on the Tigers. However, the 8way lineup is also still in training and will competed at the World Meet.
