Did You Know...

... that a hybrid meet in Eloy included a family affair?

Arizona Divewerkz 2008 lineup
posted Jun 17th, 2008 - The Arizona Skydiving League, run by the AZ Divewerkz members, had to improvise last weekend to get the six rounds of the meet in Eloy completed. Annie Peterson reported that the participants had a good meet despite some initial delays and issues:

"First, one participant had a reserve after a nasty opening in Round 1. We weren't able to continue right away with the next round. Then, halfway through Round 2, we missed a videographer. Since we had only two videographers for the four teams there was no way for us to continue with three teams and only one video! So, we decided to move the competition to the tunnel."

The remainder of the meet was completed in the windtunnel, and Skyventure Arizona helped the teams with the necessary tunnel time. Annie Peterson said that it worked out great, and the meet was over at 2:00 pm. By then, the temperature had reached a scorching 110'F outside...

Rounds 2 through 6 were performed by all teams in the tunnel. The meet management decided to count the first 40 seconds from the time of entrance, as Annie Peterson explained: "This was to account for tunnel entrance time since we weren't launching exits from the door."

The AZDW Mentor Camp and AZSL meet videographers Gordon Lindsay and Jim Vance, both locals at Skydive Arizona, were out of work when the teams moved to the windtunnel. However, Annie Peterson said that they supported the event and did a great job through the one and a half rounds. She promised that there will be more jumping at the next meet...

AA Class team Flogging Molly, with Molly Osborne, Steve IV, Ed Reitzner and AZDW Mentor Blane Boynton, dominated the competition, flew all six rounds with a lot of control and finished with a 12.5 average.

Team NAFTA (Gary Peterson, Jose Aguilera, Liz Jack, AZDW Mentor Annie Peterson) consisted of skydivers from Mexico, the USA and Canada and had a very special lineup situation. Gary Peterson is Annie Peterson's father, and she surely enjoyed the family fun: "It was great to jump with my dad on Father's Day weekend!"

Team Rhodesia's former AZDW member Murel Addison was also the meet judge. He competed with Jocelyn Bernatchez, Ian Mackenzie and Paul Hadzellis in the lineup.

Whodunnit (Annie Peterson, Blane Boynton, Richard Kreutzer, James Stanley), with two AZDW Mentors, is a new AZSL team. This meet was the first time for the lineup to fly together. Annie Peterson and Blane Boynton reported that there was already improvement and progress throughout the meet.
