Did You Know...

... that Fast Forward from the Northern Plains moves up the leaderboard?

Billy Andrews with Fastrax in 2005
posted Oct 22nd, 2006 - FiaZco broke the tie with Mass Defiance in round four. FiaZco consists of four experienced and well skilled competitors, including last year's Fastrax member Billy Andrews. Steve Johnson, Jim Klinge and Rodney Cruce complete the line-up, Tony Hathaway films the team.

Mass Defiance lost two points in this race within the competition. One of these two points got lost in the judging room due to an infringement. Mass Defiance is still one point ahead of Elsinore Gravity, which will probably not last for very long since Gravity will come back up. Dallas Thunder is next on the heels of the New England Skydiving League team.

Ranch Pulse recovers in Round 5

Divewerkz added another point to the lead in the AAA/Advanced Class competition and still dominates the field. Cross Keys Vision is surprisingly strong and holds the second place by four points. There is an exciting race for the 3rd place going on between Perris Voltage, Cross Keys O2 Project and Carolina Ice, while other teams are still in striking distance. AZDW and Vision still have their feet in the AAA/Open Class playground.

Ranch Pulse did not get nervous after the lost round three and came back strongly with the highscore of round four. The Furies could not take advantage of the momentum in round three and lost one point to the leader. However, they won a point over the Air Force team CAD and are now alone in second place.

Gravity with more video problems in Round 5

The fiasco was not over for Elsinore Gravity after the video problems in round four. The NSL News expected the team to recover round by round and make it back to the position behind Perris Fury. It would probably have been impossible to get as close to Fury as before. However, recovering alone would have felt good enough for the Elsinore team.

Unfortunately, round five was a repeater of the video problem, not exactly on the same damage scale, but bad enough. This time, five points got lost at the beginning of the working time. Gravity's 18 completed formations within working time were reduced to the official score of 13 points.

DeLand Groove moves fast in the slow Round 6

Round 6 had the slowest AAA Class sequence (4-20-16) of the competition so far, which will probably not change. The total number of points of the top five Open Class teams together indicate a slow or fast round. The previous rounds compare as shown below.
Scoring average per round of the top five teams
DeLand Groove line-up
DeLand Groove landed another coup in this slow and technical round. Point Solly Williams seems to fit in nicely with his new position, even when the sequence is technically challenging and would require trained team skills. DeLand Groove scored two points above the scoring average of the top five teams and broke the tie with Team Fastrax.

Perris Fury (16) lost one point to Odyssey (17) but gained one point on the Golden Knights (15) and also moved further away from Velocity (15). The underdog is only four points behind the Army team and still in contention for the bronze medal position.

NPSL team Fast Forward

NPSL team Fast Forward moves up

Fast Forward of the Northern Plains Skydiving League slowly moves up the leaderboard in the AA/Intermediate Class. It does not look as if any of the teams will be able to threaten Ranch Pulse any longer, including Fast Forward. However, the second place is still in reach for several teams.

Fast Forward, with Steve Blake (Point), Kevin Burkart (Tail), Aaron Hislop (Center Inside), Bill Rehm (Center Outside) and Rich Barr (Camera) in the line-up, fell three points the Furies in round three and tied rounds four and five with the ladies from Skydive Chicago. The 10-pointer in round six won back one point. Fast Forward is not in a medal position yet. However, the second place (Furies) is only two points away, and the NPSL team is only one point behind the third place (Air Force CAD).

Elsinore Select is falling further back into the field of Advanced Class teams and performs behind the team's power curve of the World Meet 2006 where it just missed the bronze medals behind Russia's Ladybirds. Only Arizona Divewerkz and Cross Keys Vision in the Advanced Class field are still ahead of the Open Class team Select. However, Perris Voltage is coming dangerously close.
