Did You Know...

... that NSL-TV now presents the meet videos of the winners in Eloy?

NSL-TV with RealXstream's Mike McGrath at the World Meet 2006
posted Nov 7th, 2006 - The NSL News mentioned during the coverage of the USPA Nationals 2006 that some teams would provide NSL-TV with footage of the competition in Eloy at a later time. The teams were not allowed to use their own footage for any public duplication while being at Skydive Arizona for the USPA event, as one of the team videographers reported:

"We were not able to get you any video or picture footage. Ownership of all photographic material was dictated by USPA. The very first thing that was mentioned in the videographers briefing was that absolutely no stills or video taken while at Skydive Arizona during Nationals, could be used for public duplication.

They made sure all teams and videographers knew that if anything popped up on the internet, that team would be disqualified, and it could void any agreement Skydive Arizona had with an outside media company (i.e. ESPN). I even checked with the USPA official in charge and he gave me the big NO!"

USPA's media protection was probably one of the reasons why NSL-TV was not invited to cover the event. However, at previous events USPA, FAI and NSL had agreed that the low quality of the on-line presentation would not be a threat to any potential agreements with major TV stations.

At the same time, Omniskore uploaded and presented quite a few meet videos of the event, which apparently did not jeopardize any media rights. According to feedback from participants in Eloy, the media rights were "a bit of a sore topic with many videographers this year."

However, the meet is over now, and the videos can be used for other purposes, as well. NSL-TV is fortunate enough to already have the meet videos of the AAA and AA Class champions available. Thanks to DeLand Groove and Ranch Pulse for providing the exciting footage of the winning jumps.

The first round is now posted and can be viewed at the NSL-TV page or by clicking on the icon behind the score on the leaderboard.

Ranch Pulse and DeLand Groove both opened the competition with a highscore. Ranch Pulse, with Brian Ball (Tail), Roger Cunha (Point), Dimitri Kavour (Inside Center), Bob Schuyler (Outside Center) and Georgie Pulman (Video) in the line-up, created a 3-point lead with the 19-pointer in round one. The AA/Intermediate Class winner never let go of this early lead.

The NSL News had reported on Ranch Pulse's great chances to win medals at the USPA Nationals 2006 after a great performance at the NSL Playoffs 2006. The team surely lived up to all expectations and finished the competition in Eloy with the highest average (6.8 - 9.5 - 12.5 - 12.7 - 13.5) of the 2006 season.

The first round was not flawless for DeLand Groove. However, it was good enough to impress the direct competition on site. Ian Bobo (Tail), Shannon Pilcher (Center Inside), Gary Smith (Center Outside), Solly Williams (Point) and Jonathan Taggle (Camera) used the first page of the jump to learn the details of the sequence.

The cat piece of Block 13 (Hammer - Hammer) missed a grip at the completion of the inter, and it took a little extra time to build the Danish T of Block 17 on the first page. The second page was a corrected copy of the first page, and DeLand Groove then began to increase the pace for the remainder of the working time. Final result of this approach was the highscore of the meet opener. DeLand Groove defended this top position throughout the whole meet, as well.
