Did You Know...

... that Joey Jones, Marin Ferré, Andy Delk and Gary Smith attended the first Coaches Corner?

posted Aug 4th, 2011 - The first Coaches Corner NSL Talk at the World Cup 2011 was held yesterday when it was not raining.

The sky was overcast and did not provide the best backdrop. However, NSL Talk ist mostly about hearing what the skydive VIPs and celebrities have to say.

Two of the coaches are directly involved in the female 4way competition, which naturally became a topic of the conversation.

Coaches Corner: Marin Ferre, Joey Jones, Gary Smith, Andy Delk
Marin Ferre (French 4way teams), Gary Smith (Netherlands 4way and 8way, Bardagi, SonicNutz), Joey Jones (Hayabusa) and Andy Delk (Illusions) met with the NSL News in the middle of the spectator area to discuss the situation in all traditional Formation Skydiving events at the end of the second meet day.

On other topics, there was actually a deck of cards at the dropzone. It was no surprise that the Brit Chicks were the right group to turn to for entertainment tools. Lesley Gale needed only a few seconds to produce a deck of cards out of her backpack when the NSL News was ready to give up the search. The investigation of the Fun Flag situation did not produce any results so far.

Bérangère Duplouy and family
The results of the NSL Poll for the female 4way competition were much better in synch with the current standings than the other two events. It was obviously much easier to predict the outcome with Aerodyne Deep Blue Defenders on the top, even though Illusions stole two rounds from the French world champions so far and are probably closer to France than expected.

It was interesting to see that the audience voted the Russian team in 2nd place, which is according to the current standings and most likely the final rankings. Polaris was not expected in 3rd place, and the Golden Knights are in a better position, as well. Not much will change for gold and silver, however, there could still be any kind of scrambling between the other three teams.

Deep Blue world champion Bérangère Duplouy arrived yesterday to visit the event site and see how the Defenders of the French gold medals deal with their job. She brought her 6-week old baby whose father is competing with the French VFS 4way team Fullpatate in Saarlouis.

The sun is slowly burning the morning fog away, and the teams were on a boarding call for the first time.
