Did You Know...

... that the International Bunny Meet is in full swing?

Team Bardagi on Saturday morning in DeLand
posted Apr 23rd, 2011 - The International Bunny Meet of the Florida Skydiving League is on its way in DeLand, and it features four teams from three different countries, Sweden (Bardagi, CADO), Germany (Final Four) and Denmark (Bodyflight Factum).

The name of the event is obviously related to the date of the event on the Easter weekend, and it expresses some hope at the same time that there might be a jackpot in the future, as the Shamrock Showdown has it in March every year. However, the Skins Game for other prizes takes place anyway.

The European teams have scheduled their training camps in DeLand around the Easter weekend since it usually offers extra vacation time for the skydivers who have a normal job in their other lives. Those four teams were not able to make it to the Shamrock Showdown 2011 and get their own season opener in April. Coach Solly Williams said that he would like to establish the International Bunny Meet as a second spring option for teams to launch the new competition season.

Final Four gets ready for Round 1
It's a small meet in DeLand, however, the teams are a very interesting mix, including Sweden's national team of 2010, Bardagi. The Swedes have strong competition, as one of Germany's top 4-way teams attends the meet, as well.

Bardagi comes back in 2011 with the same lineup that posted a 16.0 average at the World Meet 2010 in Menzelinsk. Final Four has only three members of the 2010 season. Henning Stumpp is still not ready to take back his Center Outside slot, and X-Ray Remscheid Uli Sehrbrock, who helped out last year, is not available in 2011.

Final Four recruited Petra Baerenfaenger for the 2011 season, as the NSL News reported on 25 February 2011. The German team was in DeLand at that time for the first training camp this year, which coincided with a space shuttle launch that the Final Four members witnessed in freefall. Bardagi versus Final Four promises an interesting battle this weekend, and both teams tied the first round with 17-pointers.

The other duel takes place between a young and talented Swedish lineup, Cado, and the third national 4-way team of Denmark, Bodyflight Factum. Two of the Cado members have a total of 200 jumps, another member is at a total of approx. 400 jumps. The Cado members are also very young of age.

Bodyflight Factum was selected for Denmark's national 4-way project at the end of the 2010 season. Bodyflight Voluntas is the official national 4-way team. Bodyflight Atlas is the B-Team and competed at the Shamrock Showdown 2011 in March.

Factum is the C-Team and attended the World Challenge 2011 at the beginning of this month. The International Bunny Meet is the first outdoor competition this year for Factum, Final Four and Bardagi.
