Did You Know...

... that Aerodyne and NSL have formed an alliance to promote Formation Skydiving?

Aerodyne Skydive Project participants at Cross Keys
posted Sep 1st, 2010 - The Aerodyne Skydive Project has been put together by Aerodyne and the NSL to provide local events for formation skydivers on a high quality level. The project goal is to get together groups of skilled and experienced jumpers who want to make good skydives together. The approximate and flexible benchmark is set at the capability of doing 10-point skydives in a 4-way jump.

The projects simple formula is "Better Skydives = More Fun". The weekend events provide a structured environment for participants to come out and be assured of doing some nice complex jumps with a local organizer. The dives range from 8-ways to 20-ways with the limits set by the local organizers.

Five events are scheduled for this year so far, and the plan is to make this an ongoing project and add new locations year by year.

ASP jump in Raeford in June
Project organizer Louis French hosted his first event in Raeford, NC, in June. He had a great turnout with 18 qualified skydivers who did seven jumps. The advantage of being close to the Paraclete XP wind tunnel offered the opportunity to turn to indoor 4-way and 6-way scrambles during the weather holds on Sunday.

All participants enjoyed snacks and drinks during the day and gathered for a group dinner on Saturday evening. The social aspect is a very important part of the project and provides a great opportunity for networking and making new friends.

Tom and Mandy Schroeder also hosted an event last month at Skydive Spaceland and provided organized jumps to their local skydivers. Last weekend, the Aerodyne Skydive Project took place at Skydive Cross Keys, with Bill Legard organizing the jumps.

Mariaelena Rodriguez with Just 4Funnel
Ten highly skilled skydivers did 12 jumps over the weekend. The event was combined and coordinated with the August meet of the MidAtlantic Skydiving League. This allowed Karl and Cherie Schuch to provide other interested 4-way jumpers with information to participate and then to socialize with everyone in the evening.

Karl and Cherie Schuch also provided coaching for the 4-way teams and flew as player coaches with Melissa Huggins and Matt Chaiken for CK Xtra Altitude. MASL Director Dennis Miller reported that new MASL competitor Mariaelena Rodriguez came back to play in the Rookie Class for the third time this season: "It looks like she's hooked on 4-way. She did her 100th jump in Round 6."

He added that Karl and Cherie Schuch will compete with Teiwaz at the USPA Nationals 2010 and that Cross Keys team Weatherhold is also heading to Skydive Chicago next week. He said that the MASL community will be rooting for them.

Rita Miller, MASL Director Dennis Miller's wife, catered an incredible dinner for everyone including the Rainbow Boogie participants. Skydive Cross Keys flew 64 loads for the event, and Rita fed 100 hungry skydivers.

Other Aerodyne Skydive Project events have been scheduled for October 2 - 3 at Skydive Dallas and November 6 - 7 at the Paraclete XP wind tunnel for a 4-way "Mega Meet". Cherie Schuch can provide more information about the events by e-mail. She is also ready to discuss the project and its events with new hosts.
