Did You Know...

... that no 8-way team has won a round by three points in this meet so far?

France and USA landing after Round 9
posted Aug 4th, 2010 - The 8-way teams have completed Round 9, and the 4-way teams and competitors are swarming the dropzone at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010.

Russia lost two points in Round 9, which was not new to Barkli. The team had lost eight points going into Round 9. It was the opposite situation for the Golden Knights who had not seen a point deduction before Round 8. The two lost points in Round 8 hurt even more after the next 2-point deficit in Round 9.

The Golden Knights won yesterday's 8-way competition by four points (69 - 65) in three rounds. Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge came back this morning to win back those points, and they did so (52 - 48) in only two rounds. The French lead is back to three points, as it was at the end of the first 8-way day. The Golden Knights now have one single jump left to win by three points, catch up with France and force a jump-off. Neither France nor USA has outscored the other team by more than two points in this meet. It will be a challenging job for the US Army team. The teams are getting ready, Round 10 in 8-way is next.

New 4-way world record for Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge
In the meantime, NSL-TV has put together a video that will make history as one of the highlights in Menzelinsk. Eight 4-way Open Class teams and one team in the female 4-way category broke the old world record of 45 points in Round 3.

This video shows all those jumps in the scoring order, except the missing video of NMP-PCH Hayabusa. Aerokart Deep Blue does not have a world record registered in the female category, as the event was created later. However, it surely is the highest score for a single round in this event's history.

The highest score and new world record of 56 points will be shared between Sky Panthers and Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge. The French team could not protest the score, whether the judges counted the accurate number of points or not. The audience has the opportunity now to count the points and decide whether it is a 56- or a 57-pointer.
