Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed made the expected move on Sunday morning?

Marin Ferre with his young C-Team lineup
posted Apr 19th, 2010 - The new judging videos of Round 6 at the World Challenge 2010 come together with the missing scores of Round 10. The scores of Rounds 9 and 10 did not change the meet averages for the teams after Round 8 much at all. Round 9 was a fast sequence, Round 10 was a slow one, and the average of those two rounds was almost exactly the same as teams had after eight rounds.

Perros Dunkerque Maubeuge had the most outstanding score for Round 10. The French national C-Team, which was guided through the ten rounds by national 4-way coach Marin Ferre in Bedford, was just one point short of the lowest score of the Top 10 teams with the 18-pointer. Dunkerque finished in 26th position with an 18.7 average.

The three French youngsters (Olivier Fajon, Damien Gouriou, Laurence Herve) are eager to become members of the national B-Teams next year. They had posted a 17.8 average at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2010 and improved the scoring level significantly in Bedford.

Made the expected move on Sunday: Arizona Airspeed
As of the top end of the leaderboard, Round 6 was the first round on Sunday morning, and some teams would be trying to make a move.

The eyes of all teams and the audience were especially on the Arizona Airspeed world champions who were in 6th place after the first half of the meet.

It was a challenging situation as Airspeed had never seen it before, but the reigning 4-way world champion were mentally ready for it.

Round 6 with an average sequence (21,C,G,6) did not offer much room for big moves. Airspeed did the expected and posted the highscore for the round but still needed help from the other top contenders.

Nobody offered much help. Only Perris Fury gave away two points and allowed all other top teams to move closer, while XL even tied Airspeed's 29-pointer and then also NMP-PCH Hayabusa in 3rd place. Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge only lost a point due to a penalty in this round.

Uphill battle after Round 2: Paraclete XP4
It had become tighter on the top of the leaderboard, however, Airspeed was still miles away, even after posting the team's second highscore for a round at this meet.

At least, Airspeed had moved up after outscoring the 8-way experts of Aerokart PCs by four points in Round 6. It was still a good start of the second day for Airspeed at the World Challenge 2010.

Paraclete XP4 had also started the difficult uphill battle in Round 6. The disappointing 37-pointer of the tunnel experts in the fast tunnel round had thrown Kirk Verner's new world class lineup far behind.

XP4 would eventually move up from 11th to 8th place on the second day of the competition. Enjoy the NSL-TV show of Round 6.
