Did You Know...

... that VTSD moves up and on as Carolina Turbo XP?

Reigning and future world champions?
posted Feb 9th, 2010 - Competition practice and experience creates winners. This is a message that the Arizona Airspeed 4-way world champions have announced many times, and they have also shown that this is the truth.

However, the 4-way world champions are not the only competitors who have provided more than enough evidence for that.

In fact, there is a very young team has spread the same message on last year's scoreboards. VTSD, the AA/Intermediate Class champion of the USPA Nationals 2009 was actually the team that competed at more meets than any other team last year.

Doug Barron (Outside Center), Joey Coffineau (Inside Center), Andrew Happick (Point), Ben Worrall (Tail), with James Sides on camera, attended a total of eight competitions in 2009, seven outdoor and one indoor.

Airspeed already has the title that the young Virginia Tech competitors are aiming for. They want to become 4-way world champions, and they left no doubt about it when the NSL News interviewed the team at the USPA Nationals last year.

It is a quite amazing fact that most of VTSD's team jumps last year were indeed made at competitions, as the team barely completed 100 jumps together in 2009.

It was also very interesting to see that the team went through all three NSL competition classes (Rookie, A, AA) in the course of the same year.

The same lineup competed in the Rookie Class at the Paraclete XP tunnel meet of the Carolina Skydiving League in June and in the A Class at the Collegiate Championships in December. The other six meets were all in the AA Class.

The scores were impressive when VTSD stepped down into the Rookie Class (29.3 after six rounds) for the indoor competition and into the A Class (23.0 after six rounds) for the Collegiate Championships.

However, VTSD also did not not give other teams even the slightest chance at the USPA Nationals 2009 in the AA/Intermediate Class.

The latest VTSD update was posted by the NSL News on 4 January 2010, which wrapped up the team's sweeping performance at the Collegiates 2009.

Now the Skydive Carolina home team officially announced that the plans for the 2010 season have been finalized. It is time for the next big step up into the AAA Class competition.

The same lineup also decided to train and compete under a new team name this year. VTSD of 2009 has turned into Carolina Turbo XP in 2010.

The team members are also ready to add a few more years to the Turbo career. That's what it will take to get to the very top in the AAA Class competition. The Turbo members seem to get ready for it.

The NSL News will follow up with more information as soon as possible.
