... that NSL-TV videos feature the Italian battle for indoor bronze medals and the winner?

AAA Class awards at the Italian Indoor Nationals

posted Nov 4th, 2023 - The first NSL News update from the Italian Indoor Nationals on October 30th credited Fire Phoenix as the most improved team on the Italian AAA Class leaderboard. The story included the scoring progression of Italy's indoor national team in 4-way Women on their way to the indoor bronze medal position.

Fire Phoenix have attended six 4-way meets in the past 12 months, and the competition experiences were helpful when the team had to battle throughout the whole ten rounds with Bandits Revolution to finish in 3rd place. Eventually, there was a 2-point difference between 3rd and 4th place.

Their opponent in the battle for the bronze medals, Bandits Revolution, may have expected Fire Phoenix less as a serious opponent as Panik possibly did.

Bandits Revolution had lifted their performance and scoring level significantly, as well, from 15.0 in November 2022 to 18.7 last month.

Fire Phoenix - Bandits Revolution at the Italian Indoor Nationals 2023
Fire Phoenix scoring progression in the past 12 months
Bandits were still 12 points ahead of Fire Phoenix (15.0 - 13.8) with their original lineup when both teams competed at the Flyspot Open 2022 in November last year, where the Italian Indoor Nationals were embedded into the event.

Original Bandits members Tatjana Mura and Allessandro Grandi had two highly experienced 4-way competitors in their 2023 lineup, Federico Angelotti and Stefano Rossi, when they posted their 17.8 average in April at the Weembi Cup 2023.

Federico Angelotti actually trains and competes with FLY X, and he was back with his own team for the Italian Indoor Nationals. Stefano Rossi has been training and competing with eX3MO for several years, including the national outdoor championship this year, where he re-joined forces with eX3MO founder Placido Udine and Fire Phoenix members Antonella Chiarin and Paola Vana.

Federico Angelotti (FLY X), Antonella Chiarin and Paola Vana (Fire Phoenix) were back with their own teams for the indoor championship, while Stefano Rossi was still available for Bandits Revolution. Placido Udine competed with the Bad Boys, and Emanuele Palombi replaced Federico Angelotti for Bandits Revolution.

FLY X - Aerogravity FS4 at the Italian Indoor Nationals 2023
FLY X/Amnesya in 2019
The new Bandits lineup increased their scoring level from 17.8 in April to 18.7 last month, which was still not enough to fend off Fire Phoenix with their well prepared original lineup. Fire Phoenix have now moved from their 13.8 average in November 2022 to the 18.9 at the national indoor championship last month.

The competition videos are featuring the battle for bronze medals between Fire Phoenix and Bandits Revolution, and also the other Italian 4-way indoor medalists, FLY X and Aerogravity FS4.

FLY X, now with Arianna De Benedetti and Federico Angelotti, are back to the 27+ scoring level where team founder Giuseppe Cossu and Livio Piccolo were with Chiara Brunetti and Ivan Quadrio at the Italian Indoor Nationals 2019. The 27+ level would have been enough to challenge the Qatar Tigers who finished in 4th place at the 4th FAI World Indoor Skydiving Championship in April this year. The next major FAI/ISC indoor competition is the world cup in China next year. Aerogravity FS4 finished 12 points ahead of Fire Phoenix in 2nd place with their second 20+ average in the team's indoor and outdoor history. There is no doubt that Fire Phoenix are now aiming at the 20-average benchmark, and Aerogravity will probably have to be ready for an even stronger indoor challenger.
