Did You Know...

... that XPG4 had a special day in Voss?

XPG4 after Round 10
posted Aug 30th, 2023 - The next transition of the NSL News was the journey from Norway to Germany, where the Fallsdchirmsportzentrum Saar (FSZ Saar) is hosting the national outdoor championship. 26 teams in the 4-way event are ready to jump from the same Cessna Caravans that were lifting the competitors of the 23rd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving to jump altitude, as well.

The two German national teams, Airbus Illertissen Oceanside and Meltemi Oceanside, will defend their 4-way titles and the status as Germany's national teams in 4-way Open (Airbus) and 4-way Women (Meltemi) for the next outdoor world championship next year. Neither team has serious challengers in their respective events.

The NSL News covered the exciting competition between Airbus and Amnesya on August 28th, which ended up with bronze medals for the German team in the embedded 15th FAI European Formation Skydiving Championship. Meltemi won another set of medals for the German delegation, bronze in the world cup, silver behind France for the European part. No 4-way Women team was able to keep up with U.S. team XPG4, who were strong enough to take the 5th place on the combined AAA Class leaderboard, 4-way Open/4-way Women, in Norway.

XPG4 at the award 4-way Women ceremony
It was a very special day for XPG4. They became a part for the complete U.S. Sweep in Formation Skydiving competition (4-way Open/4-way Women/4-way VFS/8-way Open). It was also Jeana Billings' birthday, who accomplished her 4-way/8-way double duty mission successfully with the two first places at Skydive Voss.

The double duties in 4-way and 8-way at a world championship have been a regular topic for a while, and the outdoor world cup in Norway was the first test for Jeana Billings and the two teams that she competes with.

The days were very long in Norway, and the weather was unpredictable. Jeana Billings never had time out when any of the two events were not called to Skydive Voss for any rounds.

The situation will be the same at the outdoor world championship where GKXP8 and XPG4 will compete with the same lineups. It does not seem as if anything could change enough for a different outcome in the coming year of training until the major event in Israel.
