XP8 after Round 9 on Tuesday
posted Sep 15th, 2022 - The 8-way teams did not complete all ten rounds on Tuesday, even though it came close. The 12 Open/Advanced Class teams completed nine rounds, and the Intermediate Class 8-way teams were done after Round 8.

It has become crystal clear, and there is no doubt any longer, that Paraclete's XP8 lineup will have no opposition at the FAI Outdoor World Meet. The visiting Qatar Falcons were able to outscore all other U.S. 8-way teams, which is never guaranteed, while they ended up 50 points behind XP8. The Falcons' 17.2 average still indicates that they have a very realistic chance to win the FAI silver medals in Eloy.

XP8 missed the scoring target that the NSL News pointed out on September 13th. The competition draw at Skydive Chicago was too slow to reach the 23.9 of the Golden Knights at the FAI World Meet 2016. This week's 22.2 is still the highest 10-round average of any XP8 lineups, and only Golden Knights and France have ever scored better in 10-round meets.

The same XP8 lineup still have one more opportunity this year to compete against themselves and the judges, and to lift the highest 8-way meet average in history to the 24+ level. It is a difficult task, as Arizona Airspeed's Joey Marshall explained in the NSL Live Talk on September 13th. It will be a "shadow-boxing" situation for XP8 in Eloy, as well, with or without the 8-way scoring history.

NSL-TV Unfiltered: USPA Nationals - End of the day after Round 9 in 8-way
Qatar Falcons after Round 9 on Tuesday
Joey Jones and Gary Smith wrapped up the 4-way and 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals in the NSL Coaches Corner. They have do doubt that Arizona Airspeed will be in the same situation as XP8 and win the second set of FAI gold medals for the U.S. delegation. The only question mark is behind the situation in 4-way Women where XPG4 will try to complete the U.S. sweep in the traditional 4-way and 8-way events.

The attendance of the British national team in 4-way Women, NFTO, is still not confirmed. The very well trained and prepared NFTO lineup is probably the top contender in this event in the absence of the reigning world champions, Bubbles from Russia.

However, the complete NFTO lineup still have to be sanctioned for the world meet by their British skydiving federation, or possibly compete with an alternate. The French Nephtys and XPG4 will either take on NFTO in the battle for the gold medals or end up only in a duel for the top spot.

Joey Jones and Gary Smith agreed that the 4-way Open Class competition will most likely still feature a very exciting battle for the 2nd place. One of the three contenders behind Arizona Airspeed (NMP PCH HayaBusa - Qatar Tigers - France) will end up without any medals...
