Did You Know...

... that Seattle Swift might copy the impressive 2016 progression?

Synergy in 2014
posted Jun 23rd, 2017 - Two teams competed in the AAA Class competition last weekend, and both are from the Northwest Skydiving League, as the Sun Path Products NSL News reported on 21 June 2017.

The same story mentioned that the regular participation in the Indoor Cloud League events eventually created Otter Droppings, who completed their first outdoor competition last weekend. The second AAA Class team is not new to the Sun Path Products NSL News audience at all.

Seattle Swift was formed in 2016 by NWSL competitors who started with other teams from the same area.

Dmitry Rudchenko and videographer Andrey Ulanov trained and competed with Synergy between 2012 and 2014. They placed tied in 4th place in 2014 and missed the USPA silver medals in the AA/Intermediate Class only due to lack of eligibility.

Andrew Gaiovyi, Djordje Mandaric and Denis Pershakov competed with the JOES between 2013 and 2015. Dave Correia provided his 4-way experiences as the 4th player in this lineup until July 2015.

The JOES competed under Swift at the USPA Nationals 2015 where Sandy Grillet replaced Dave Correia and finished 15th.

Seattle Swift with the current lineup attended three of the four NWSL meets in 2016 and then won the AA/Intermediate Class competition at the USPA Nationals 2016 with a 14.7 average.

However, once again the best NWSL team was not eligible for USPA medals and competed only as a guest team. Zhills PreciZion won the official championship title in this category.

Seattle Swift still began to train the AAA Class dive pool, even though they would still be eligible for USPA medals in the Intermediate Class. They posted several scores for iFLY Seattle's Indoor Cloud League AAA and AA sequences and then eventually completed the first outdoor competition in the AAA Class last weekend.

The 11.2 average is the starting point on the way to this year's USPA Nationals, where Seattle Swift will probably compete in the AAA/Advanced Class.

Seattle Swift in 2016
The exit mishap in Round 4 that the Sun Path Products NSL News mentioned in the earlier update kept the NWSL team from posting an even higher meet average.

Another average score of 11 points in Round 4 would have generated a 12.3 average.

A 12+ average is not enough any longer for USPA medals in the AAA/Advanced Class. However, Seattle Swift was showing last year that the starting point was far below the outcome at the year's destination event. Swift launched the 2016 season with an 11.1 average in July and posted 14.7 after ten rounds in Eloy in October.

The Swift scores at the two NWSL 2016 meets in August and September indicated that the team might be in medal contention at the USPA Nationals, where they eventually delivered the peak performance of the year.

It would be no big surprise if a similar progression happened this year in the AAA/Advanced Class.

Seattle Swift started even earlier with meet practice this year, and NWSL Director Deb Correia has scheduled three more competitions before the USPA Nationals 2017 in Perris...
