Did You Know...

... that the AA Class battle for medals at the World Challenge was the tightest one?

AA Class awards at the World Challenge 2016
posted Apr 26th, 2016 - The tightest battle for the medal positions at the World Challenge 2016 took place in the AA Class, and once again, lineups of all genders and ages were involved in it.

The four teams in serious contention for the three top spots were separated by 13 points, which was significantly closer compared to the other four categories (AAA Open - AAA Women - A - Rookie). The same four AA Class teams also represented four of the 13 different nations on the AA Class leaderboard.

The winner, Equinox from Lithuania, has a mixed-gender lineup and claimed or tied seven highscores in the 10-round meet.

The Flyspot Chicks are an all-female team who had three highscores and then outscored Jetmax from Belgium, the only all-male adult lineup of the Top 4 teams, in a jump-off round. The four junior boys of Aerokart Ak'demie's AA Class team ended up in 4th place with two highscores.

2nd place after jump-off: Flyspot Chicks
The Sun Path Products NSL News had predicted an exciting competition in the AA Class on February 14th. Flyspot Chicks and Jetmax knew each other after competing at the Polish Indoor Open 2015. However, they posted scores on different leaderboards, as Jetmax still competed in the A Class until the end of the 2015 season.

The story still mentioned the Belgian team as a medal contender at the World Challenge, and the Flyspot Chicks eventually needed the jump-off round to fend off the new AA Class team after a dramatic showdown with a fast Super Sequence of only random formations.

Flyspot Chicks and winner Equinox also knew each other from the Polish Open 2015, where the Lithuanian team won by only four points.

However, the Equinox lineup in its third year increased the performance level by two average points between November 2015 and World Challenge, which was too much for Flyspot Chicks and Jetmax.

Aerokart Ak'demie's AA Class team with coach Marin Ferre
Of the three Aerokart Ak'demie teams, the AA Class lineup was the closest one in contention for medal spots. National coach Marin Ferre has been in charge of this team, next to his work with the French national 4-way Open Class team.

The AA Class lineup has changed and now includes the two brothers Oscar and Eliot Massier. Oscar Massier was in the A Class lineup last year and switched slots with Valentin Vazille.

Cameron Malie is also a new member who joined the AA Class lineup before the Clash of Champions 2015. Eliot Massier and Tom Mattoni are original members of the AA Class team who competed for the first time at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2014.

All three Aerokart teams are performing on a similar pace level (16.6 - 17.5 - 15.8) and there might be an internal AAA Class battle coming sometime soon...
