Did You Know...

... that SDC Core is currently far ahead of the world's VFS competition?

SDC Rhythm XP and SDC Core at Skydive Sebastian
posted Jan 12th, 2016 - The visit of the Sun Path Products NSL News with SDC Rhythm XP and the live NSL Talk with the team at Skydive Sebastian last week took place before the new situation with Arizona Airspeed's personnel change came to the surface.

The topic was not on the agenda at that time, only indirectly when the discussion turned to the time after the USPA Nationals 2016.

Another surprise topic came out of the visit to Sebastian when the reigning USPA champion in 4-way VFS, SDC Core, happened to be in the boarding area on Rhythm's training day, as well.

Both teams had synchronized their schedules for a joint training camp and use Skydive Chicago's Twin Otter efficiently at the beginning of January.

The scheduled training camp fit just as well for Mondial 2016 host Rook Nelson, who is SDC Core's alternate and trained with his home team in Sebastian.

Gold medals at the FAI World Cup 2013
The Sun Path Products NSL News used the opportunity for an additional live NSL Talk with the VFS team. SDC Core had won the USPA Nationals 2015 with the highest VFS average in the world (20.6) throughout the entire 2015 season. In fact, SDC Core was the only VFS team last year with a 20+ average.

There have been only four teams in the VFS history who have posted 20+ outdoor averages: triple world champion Team4speed from France (2010 - 2012 - 2014), Dubai Nexus, SDC Standard, Arizona Arsenal. SDC Core joined the 20+ VFS Club with the 20.6 average at the USPA Nationals 2015.

Core members Jason Russell and Stephanie Strange both trained and competed with Dubai Nexus until the FAI World Cup 2013 in Banja Luka where they outscored the French world champions the first and only time. Nexus then discontinued, Jason Russell and Stephanie Strange launched a new team project at Skydive Chicago.

Core alternate Rook Nelson also knows how to beat the VFS 20-average, which he accomplished two times with SDC Standard XP in 2012. Standard discontinued after the bronze medals at the Mondial Dubai 2012 behind Team4speed and Dubai Nexus.

Dusty Hanks and Ryan Risberg joined the 20+ club last year in the SDC Core lineup, and Jake Jensen has been filming the team in his first competition project. SDC Core is currently far ahead of the rest of the world in VFS competition. In fact, Arizona Arsenal posted the second highest outdoor average (18.3) last year. Evolution won the VFS meet at the World Air Games 2015 with a 17.4 average.

SDC Core is now traveling to Spain for the Wind Games 2016 where they will meet several of the international competitors. Ryan Risberg will still be on the bench in Empuriabrava, and former Nexus member Tim McMaster fills the slot for the event.
