Did You Know...

... that the Quattro team name has a long history?

Perris Quattro member and SCSL Director Josh Hall last weekend
posted Aug 6th, 2015 - Last weekend's AAA Class leaderboard was the smallest one, while the Rookie Class teams deserved the prime attention with the story on August 4th. However, the competition between US team Perris Quattro and H4O from Ireland was the most exciting one and ended with a tie.

Perris Quattro competed at the August meet of the Southern California Skydiving League, while H4O won the 4-way title at the Irish Nationals 2015. Both teams were the only ones in the AAA Class at their events, and last weekend's overall leaderboard brought them together with their tied scores.

H4O posted the team's first 2015 scores at the World Challenge with the same lineup and three 2014 members. Inside Center Ronan Whelan said that the new 4th member moved up from the A Class five months before the World Challenge, and H4O was very happy with the 16.2 indoor average in Bedford. The Irish 4-way champion will now have to decide whether to compete at the Mondial 2016 at Skydive Chicago or not.

Quattro lineup at the USPA Nationals 2008

Perris Quattro is not a new team name either. Three of last weekend's team members (Andrea Curthoys, Keith Fenech, Dan Pillasch) had competed together at the USPA Nationals 2014, where Quattro posted exactly the same meet average after ten rounds in the Advanced Class competition.

Last weekend's meet average could have been significantly better without the serious exit trouble in Round 3, as the video shows.

Perris Quattro had a very prominent player in the 4th slot. Arizona Airspeed member and 4-way world champion of 2012, Josh Hall, filled the open slot. He and Yvonne Owyeong have been running the Southern California Skydiving League this year, and Josh Hall is also helping the SCSL teams with engineering and coaching at the meets.

SDC Quattro lineup in 2007
The team name Quattro goes actually farther back in 4-way time than only to the USPA Nationals 2014, and it is mainly connected to Keith Fenech, who was once again in the Quattro lineup last weekend.

He is in the Sun Path Products NSL News archives with Anabel Durham, Thomas Hughes, Brian Johnson and Ash White in a Quattro lineup at the USPA Nationals 2008. That's not the end, or better the beginning, of the Quattro story.

There was also a Quattro team at Skydive Chicago in 2007. Keith Fenech had Lisa DeSimone, Todd DeSimone, and Shannon Sweet in the original lineup, with Charles Lane on camera. SDC Quattro competed in the AA/Intermediate Class that year, in the Midwest Skydiving League, as well as at the USPA Nationals. Keith Fenech won USPA bronze medals with SDC Quattro in 2007. The powerful 2008 Quattro lineup then competed in the AAA/Open Class. The team name is in its 9th year, with one original member...
