Did You Know...

... that Christy Frikken and Sarah Smith turned an old table last weekend?

Prime Pickles with Christy Frikken
posted Jun 15th, 2015 - The teams from California treated each other very friendly last weekend. They kindly staid away from each other and avoided any confrontation in all four competition categories.

The Northern California Skydiving League competed only in the A and Rookie Class, while the teams of the Southern California Skydiving League filled the leaderboard with scores in the AAA and AA Class.

Yvonne "Yo" Owyeong reported a successful event from Perris: "We had a great Saturday and the weather was awesome. Everything went smoothly, the clouds broke early, and it was a beautiful day, light winds and all smiles. It was a great turn out!" She said that Christy Frikken, Dan BC and Josh Hall were coaching, and Jenny Gordon was in the judging room.

Last weekend's overall leaderboard offered a very interesting situation in the AAA Class, where the two participating teams were separated by one single point after the six rounds that both completed.

The Prime Pickles from Denmark were part of the Sun Path Products NSL News story on May 5th, which provided an update from Denmark before the annual DFU Cup. The story on May 20th followed up with the scores and an evaluation of the new situation.

The Prime Pickles did not compete in Denmark, however, they now posted their first outdoor scores of the year in Perris, and they seem to be capable of challenging the national team, VAF Warriors.

Two sequences at both events were similar enough to compare the three top contenders in Denmark roughly. The VAF Warriors are clearly the top favorite this year, however, both other teams might be within striking distance.

The Prime Pickles did not compete with the original lineup though. SDC Rhythm XP member Christy Frikken filled an open slot, as Kate Cooper-Jensen was not available on Saturday. This surely did not weaken the team...

Not only the Prime Pickles had a very experienced female team member. Sarah Smith was once again guiding her Pat For 5 lineup through the six rounds in Eloy. She was Christy Frikken's opponent when the current Rhythm member competed for the USA in 4-way Women at the World Meet 2008 in Maubeuge. Sarah Smith won the gold medals for UK team Bodyflight Storm - one single point ahead of Fastrax Blue with Christy Frikken.

The teams also completed only six rounds at the World Meet 2008, as the weather did not allow any more competiton after Round 6. Christy Frikken turned the special table with Sarah Smith last weekend and finished one point ahead. The Prime Pickles actually completed Round 7 last weekend, as well.

As in 2008, when Christy Frikken went back to her world class team Perris Fury after the excursion with Fastrax Blue to the world meet, she will now continue with her preparations for the USPA Nationals with SDC Rhythm XP. She had the same target in 2008 with Fury as she has now with Rhythm: Arizona Airspeed.

Sarah Smith will probably try to get Pat For 5 into Advanced Class medal contention at the USPA Nationals, while Christy Frikken will try to win the Open Class competition. The Prime Pickles will try to win the national championships in Denmark - without Christy Frikken...
