... that Gary Smith and Joey Jones discussed Hayabusa, Majik and the UK 2015 situation?

Gary Smith and Joey Jones with DeLand Majik in 2004
posted May 26th, 2015 - The first 2015 outdoor scores from the United Kingdom brought back memories and videos of the World Challenge 2015. Gary Smith and Joey Jones had discussed the situation after the last training day before the start of the competition.

They did not only talk about the teams they were coaching or competing with. The 2015 season in the United Kingdom was also a topic, especially the AAA Class competition, which will produce the next UK national team at this year's national championships.

Voodoo, Vision 99, Satori and 4mula were the names of the AAA Class teams who will somehow be involved in the competition on the top level of the UK leaderboard. Reigning 4-way champion Voodoo might not be in the mix though, as Gary Smith confirmed.

None of the top contenders competed last weekend at the UK season opener in Langar. However, Gary Smith mentioned during the NSL Talk that he sees a new generation of British 4-way teams and competitors slowly move into the picture, and that he welcomes the "young blood".

Last weekend's AAA Class leaderboard from Langar is showing three of the teams who are a part of this new generation. Phoenix, Entropy and Funnel Vision all competed in the British AA Class of 2014. Only the Anti Gravity Ninja Swans had spent the 2014 season in the AAA Class, after starting in the A Class of 2012.

Phoenix won the gold medals at the national championships last year and was also ahead of the AA Class teams of 2014 last weekend.

AA Class champions of 2014: Phoenix
Entropy in 2nd place launched the team project at the same time as the Swans (2012) but spent the first year in the Rookie Class. Entropy moved up one category each year ever since and has now arrived at the highest level with an 11.0 average as the team's starting point.

Funnel Vision began in the A Class of 2013, added the eight new AA Class blocks in 2014 and now trains the complete AAA Class dive pool. Funnel Vision was ahead of Entropy at last year's national championship, and Entropy has outscored Funnel Vision at the first two meets (World Challenge, UKSL) of the 2015 season.

The first outdoor test last weekend was a challenging start for the new AAA Class teams, as the six rounds included twelve blocks, with a few slot switchers and only eight random formations. The next UKSL meet is scheduled for June 20th.
