Did You Know...

... that FSL teams shook up last weekend's Rookie Class leaderboard?

FSL Rookie Class team DeLand Aurai
posted Sep 23rd, 2014 - The 2014 outdoor competition season is slowly coming to an end. Russia is the last country holding the national championships this week, while only the Northern California Skydiving League and the Florida Skydiving League have one more competition scheduled, their playoffs, before this year's NSL Championship in November. The 5th Dubai Cup will be last major event of the year.

The Sun Path Products NSL News will soon have the opportunity to catch up with the aftermath of other major events of the 2014 season. However, winter will not be an end for the indoor events. The Czech Republic will hold the first indoor nationals this weekend at the Skydive Arena, and the ISR Grand Prix 2014 is scheduled for the November 29 weekend.

Teams from Florida also joined last weekend's competition at the ESL Championship 2014 with the same draw and were shaking up the Rookie Class leaderboard.

FSL Rookie Class team DeLand 3D
Both Rookie Class teams from DeLand, Aurai and 3D, posted their highest meet averages of the year and record numbers (14-pointers) for a single round. DeLand Aurai's progression was outstanding, even though both teams were tied after four rounds.

DeLand 3D has been ahead of DeLand Aurai throughout the 2014 season before the three Aurai ladies (Cathy Luo, Leslie Eggenberger, Alix Raymond) increased their meet average from 6.5 in August to 10.3 last weekend, on Saturday with Rodrigo Espinosa and on Sunday with Steve Hubbard in the Tail slot.

DeLand 3D completed all six rounds on Sunday to train for the playoffs and the championships, while DeLand Aurai had scheduled only the four Rookie Class rounds. The weather allowed only one round on Saturday, and both teams came back on Sunday.

ESL Rookie Class winner Perpetual Chaos
DeLand 3D and DeLand Aurai are now eventually scoring and performing on the same level, and the last two meets of the year will become even more exciting. The DeLand Aurai members have been regulars at the FSL Tunnel Kicker and Indoor Cloud League events at iFLY Orlando, and the results of the consistent skills training are now showing at the outdoor meets, as well.

However, the meet videos expose that DeLand Aurai is still struggling with the exits. The next scoring level will be guaranteed for the Rookie Class team as soon as they will master the most important part of a competition jump.

Last weekend's overall leaderboard also shows both Florida teams in contention with the best Rookie Class teams at the ESL Championship. Four of the five Rookie Class teams shared the highscores for the total of eight rounds, and the DeLand teams combined for five of them. UK team Perpetual Chaos claimed or shared the highscores in seven of the eight rounds and finished with the team's highest average of the 2014 season, as well.
