Did You Know...

... that Dubai Nexus edged out SDC Standard XP by one single point in Eloy?

VFS 4way Open Class awards with Dubai Nexus
posted Oct 28th, 2012 - The NSL News has moved to Eloy, Arizona, as it is time for the live coverrage of the USPA Nationals 2012.

4way and 8way competition begin on Monday morning, and this year's event could become the most international national championship event in the history of the USPA Nationals. Several teams from different countries use this year's competition as the last test before the Mondial 2012, including the national 4way teams from Canada (Evolution, Crimson Fox), Dubai (Asaar Red and Gold), Qatar (Tigers) and the 8way teams from Russia (Sky Panthers Barkli), Netherlands (M8Trix), Dubai and Qatar.

In addition, of course, the teams and the audience will have the opportunity to see the US teams in all three FAI categories (Golden Knights in 8way and 4way Women, Arizona Airspeed). The NSL News will give the teams on their last stop before Dubai 2012 special attention.

VFS 4way competitors: Jason Russell (Dubai Nexus) - Philippe Thibodeau (Evolution)
The VFS 4way competition was completed on Saturday after the scheduled eight rounds. The meet was even more exciting than the 4way and 8way events are promising to be in the traditional categories, from the international perspective.

SDC Standard XP is the US national team for the Mondial 2012 in Dubai after winning last year's USPA Nationals. Standard was not only seriously challenged by the guest team from Dubai, Nexus. The World Cup 2012 winner won the VFS 4way competition by one single point over the best US team. Nexus could not win USPA medals, however, SDC Standard XP's Mickey Nuttall called the Dubai team onto the stage at the award ceremony to acknowledge the performance.

The other guest team in the Open Class came from Canada and had Michel LeMay's three Evolution sons in the lineup, Martin, Vincent and Benoit. Michel LeMay arrived today, and Evolution will also compete in the traditional 4way competition, in Dubai as well as in Eloy on Monday. The VFS 4way lineup even posted a sole highscore in Round 4. The NSL News has scheduled an NSL Talk meeting with Evolution for Sunday.

Happy 50th Birthday: Solly Williams - Gary Smith
The first NSL Reality TV clip from Eloy features the VFS 4way award ceremony and another special event. Coach Solly Williams celebrated his 50th birthday today.

He is in Eloy to bring the best out of Advanced Class top contender Cosmic Debris from the Northern Plains Skydiving League. Solly Williams is one of the most experienced 4way competitors and coaches in the history of the sport and mostly responsible for bringing the "Mantis" body position into Formation Skydiving competition. He and his former South African Equanimity team mate Gary Smith worked together to define the new body position in the late 90s.

Gary Smith is also at the USPA Nationals 2012 as the player coach for the Dutch national 8way team M8Trix. Solly Williams has been working a few times this year with Cosmic Debris and also with SDC Rhythm XP, the top contender for silver medals in the Open Class. There are also rumors that he has a strong DeLand lineup in Eloy with other former 4way world champions...
