Did You Know...

... that NMP-PCH Hayabusa's highscore in Round 4 is now on NSL-TV?

posted Dec 13th, 2011 - The NSL-TV coverage of the 3rd Dubai Championship 2011 continues with Round 3 and Round 4 in the duel between Aerodyne Aerokart and NMP-PCH Hayabusa. Once again, the update includes the extended leaderboard with the point deductions and copies of the score sheets with more details.

Round 3 was unique, as it shows a spotless score sheet for Aerodyne Aerokart. It happens quite frequently that a team has no point deductions in a round, even though there are plenty of red dots on the score sheet. There was nothing that caught any judge's attention in the French Round 3.

Hayabusa was not so lucky, as the completion of Block 19 (Ritz - Icepick) on the 3rd page was not done properly enough for thre of the five judges. The Belgian team probably expected a red flag in this case and lost the round with this point deduction.

The score sheets of Round 4 were much more colorful, but three of the five judges agreed only one time on a penalty for the French team. It was a questionable complete separation between the Bunyip of Block 10 and the Meeker (E) at the end of the 2nd page. Hayabusa had the better round this time, not only due to a less colorful score sheet.

Hayabusa completed two more scoring points within working time than France and won the round after penalties by two points, as well. It could have been a 3-point win. There is no doubt that the exit formation was complete. However, four judges could not see all grips at the same time for a split second and pushed the red button. It was still the first and only sole highscore for Hayabusa.

It was already half time in Dubai after Round 4. Only eight rounds were drawn for the 4way teams. Most of the teams would prefer a 10-round meet, especially with a lot of time at the event site. The Dubai management will have to add two rounds for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2012 after keeping it to only eight rounds at the first two meets.

The teams in Dubai missed five of the 22 blocks (8,12,14,17,18) and six of the 16 random formations (A, D, F, J, N, Q). Most of the missing blocks are on the slower side, while six random formations would increase the scoring level. It probably evens out for an average draw. The 4way experts can discuss this at the NSL Facebook page...
