Did You Know...

... that Arizona Airspeed came out of the gates like a race horse?

Arizona Airspeed at the Shamrock Showdown 2011
posted Mar 18th, 2011 - The Shamrock Showdown 2011 is in full swing. Round 2 has just been completed, and the teams get ready for Round 3. The scores have been posted timely and before the next round begins. CamScore, judges and manifest have been working as a solid unit so far.

The first two rounds did not have very fast sequences, but the three top contenders had no problem beating the 20-point benchmark. The upcoming Round 3 is probably the slowest sequence of the competition.

Arizona Airspeed came out of the gates like a race horse and left Aerodyne Aerokart Maubeuge and NMP-PCH Hayabusa in the dust in Round 1. That was despite the exit funnel and several busts, as Tomas Hughes commented after landing from Round 1.

DeLand Norgies in 4th place after Round 2
It was obviously not that bad for Airspeed in the meet opener, as the video shows. However, the judges deducted one Airspeed point. Hayabusa lost two points and would still not even be close to Airspeed without the deductions. France was clean in Round 1.

All three top contenders were clean in Round 2, and Airspeed posted the next sole highscore. France and Hayabusa were closer this time, however, the distance has increased. They will soon be forced to make a move if the trend continues in Round 3.

It is quite amazing that the DeLand Norgies are in 4th place after two rounds. Paraclete XP4 and SDC Rhythm XP have suffered point deductions, XP4 a 4-point deduction in Round 1, while Rhythm lost two points in Round 1 and another one in Round 2. The clean performance of the Norgies wins the 4th place at the moment.
