Did You Know...

... that teams were creeping on a dance floor?

Event judge Eric Heinsheimer
posted Mar 18th, 2011 - The training activities at Skydive DeLand slowed down towards the end of the day. Teams and staff took a break before the reception and competition draw for the Shamrock Showdown 2011, which was scheduled for 7 PM at the Clarion Hotel.

New teams signed up and completed the paperwork. Black Cat arrived from Russia, and a young team from Georgia will compete with DeLand Cinco in the AA Class competition. STF VELO-X consists of Raud Guerra (Tail), Greg Siebe (Center Inside), Mike Talerico (Point), Nick Walker (Center Outside), with Dave Koons on camera.

The opening ceremony in one of the conference rooms at the Clarion Hotel began with a brief look back into the history of the Shamrock Showdown and a special welcome note to the national team from Ireland on St. Patrick's Day.

The hotel management had prepared the conference room specifically for this opening ceremony for 4-way teams. A smooth dance floor was laid out, which would later serve as a creeper pad when the competition draw was available.

The teams were once again responsible for their own competition draw, as they pulled round by round from the hat. All participating teams were introduced on stage to their fellow competitors, but only ten teams could have the honor to draw the ten rounds for the competition.

It turned out to be not one of the fastest competition draws in history... However, a draw is a draw, and it's the same one for all teams. The top teams will be challenged to keep the scores for each round above 20 points. Take-off for Round 1 is scheduled for 9 AM.
