Did You Know...

... that the French competitors will have a very busy afternoon?

Russian headquarters during the weather hold
posted Sep 2nd, 2009 - A small weather system put the teams on a weather hold for a little while. The 8-way teams suffered the interruption, while the 4-way teams came back to the drop zone after a morning off. This causes more work now for Bryan Burke who tries to keep everything on course.

All events will be active this afternoon, as the 8-way teams and the artistic competitors have not completed yet what was planned for them. Five 8-way rounds are in the bag, and Round 6 will begin shortly. The French 4-way and 8-way competitors will have a very busy afternoon, and Bryan Burke has to coordinate their agenda.

The French 8-way team lost four points in Round 4 when videographer Sylvain Girault exited too early. The German team tied the French score of 12 points. France Aerodyne Cypres Maubeuge rebounded without problems and posted the meet's highest score of 22 points in the next round.

No 8-way competition for France

The next update is coming after the completion of Round 3 in 8-way. The French team did not get in the air in time yesterday evening and had to catch up this morning. All 8-way teams are now in the middle of Round 4. The next 8-way scores will be posted soon.

France is without serious competition at the World Cup. The new lineup is not yet on the same level as the world champions of 2006 and 2008. However, the videos show that it will not take very long until the new lineup will look just like the incredible French 8-way machine of the past years.

The next video clip features the French 8-way team's Round 1 and Germany's EADS 8-way lineup in Round 3. The German team had no problem cleaning up after the bad exit in Round 1 and is now heading straight towards the first set of silver medals at an international competition.

Sarah Smith presents the Fun Flag

Fun Flag flying over Prostejov

Finally, the Fun Flag is flying now. Bodyflight Storm's Sarah Smith, who competes with the British 8-way team Xstorming8 in Prostejov, followed up on her promise to get the flag to a prominent spot on the drop zone.

In fact, the British Freeflying team had taken possession of the flag after yesterday's secret meeting in the UK tent.

Then they raised the flag this morning, and it surely is a very visible spot, as Sarah Smith officially presented it to the public.

The large screen that plays CamScore's DZ-TV all day long showed a new decoration when the UK competitors were done with their climbing and fixing work. Once again, the Fun Flag flying over the drop zone now reminds teams and competitors that there is a higher purpose than only the scores...
