Did You Know...

... that 4-way and 8-way double duties will be challenging at the Mondial 2016?

Juggling double duties: Evolution
posted Sep 12th, 2016 - The first scores of Formation Skydiving competition have been posted, and they are coming from the 4-way VFS teams on Monday morning. It seems after Round 1 like U.S. national team SDC Core might not just have a walk in the park at the Mondial 2016. The top favorite is facing more opposition than expected from France and Canada, the gold and bronze medalists in Prostejov 2014.

The Sun Path Products NSL News goes back to the events on Sunday afternoon, which included the competition draw and the opening ceremony. The new NSL Reality TV clip features the Golden Knights playing football and Evolution with the team's traditional warm-up juggling.

The Canadian team also has to juggle once again the double duties between 4-way Open and 4-way VFS. Round 1 in 4-way VFS on Monday morning was promising, despite the two point deductions. France, U.S.A. and Canada seem to be on the same pace level.

SDC Core: Not just a walk in the park?
It will be easier for Evolution to deal with the double duties, as 4-way VFS was scheduled for Monday morning, while 4-way Open will start when the VFS teams are finished.

The challenge will be much tougher for the teams who have double duties in 4-way Open and 8-way. Both events have been separated for many years in the past, and the teams with double duties just had to deal with very long days.

The schedule is different this year and brings 4-way Open and 8-way teams together round by round. Russia's national 4-way team Black Cat and Airbus from Germany both have team members in the 4-way and 8-way lineups, as well, and they will have to be ready for very short calls switching from one event to the other. The 4-way and 8-way teams will get their first calls to the jump planes beginning at noon.

Engineering with coach Gary Smith: NMP PCH HayaBusa
The new NSL Reality TV clip also shows the Formation Skydiving teams beginning with the engineering work right after the competition draw.

The first six rounds in 4-way are bringing blocks to the teams after the exits, which usually lowers the scoring numbers. Only Block 17 in Round 4 does not slow down the teams at the very beginning of the sequence. Three rounds follow with random formations for the exits before Block 3 finishes the 10-round draw. Two of the slot switching blocks eliminate each other in Round 1. The other four slot switchers are all separated from each other and bring additional memory work.

The last part of the new NSL Reality TV clip shows the interesting dynamics of jump preparations for the Qatar Falcons. Coach Gary Smith has to use body language and an interpreter to get across all technical details and get the 8-way team ready and well prepared.
