Did You Know...

... that 70 teams are currently listed on last weekend's leaderboard?

Satori XL at the UKSL meet in Hibaldstow
posted Jul 18th, 2016 - Last weekend's leaderboard is almost complete, and most likely it will be the first time that the total number of teams is in the 70s.

12 teams competed in France, 32 in the United Kingdom, and 26 U.S. teams are currently on last weekend's combined leaderboard after using the same competition draws in all four categories. France won the AAA and AA Class events, while the United Kingdom (TBC - A) and the U.S.A. (Freaks on Couches - Rookie) each won one category.

The first update covered the 3rd Coupe de France competition in Maubeuge, where the French national team in 4-way Open posted a 23.7 team record average after all ten rounds. The UKSL meet at Skydive Hibaldstow was scheduled for only six rounds, and the leaderboard needed a few adjustments in the rankings after Round 6, which was completed by all teams in the AAA Class.

French Girl Pamela Lissajoux with the French B-Team of 2015
The French national team competed indirectly with the British national team in 4-way Open, Satori XL, who attended the meet on home turf. France is currently considered the top contender for bronze medals at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2016 by the online audience, while Satori XL is the quiet underdog. However, Satori managed once again to steal the highscore for one round from France.

The French national team used especially the last four rounds of the 10-round meet to get to the team record average. The first six French rounds accumulated for a 22.3 average while Rounds 7 - 10 added a 25.8 average for the 23.7 after ten rounds.

Satori XL would have most likely improved the team's highest average of 20.7 too with the additional four rounds.

USPA Intermediate Class champion 2015: Skydive Midwest Next
French national coach Mathieu Bernier had also sent his two national B-Teams into the last Coupe de France event. Espoir Saumur Weembi took the 3rd place behind Satori XL with two new members.

Espoir Maubeuge Weembi's roster includes three female members, who get ready for the situation when the national team in 4-way Women will need a new member. All four current French Girls, with two reigning world champions in 4-way Women, trained and competed with French national B-Teams before they were selected for the national A-Team. Espoir Maubeuge Weembi finished in 8th place and behind a third French team in the Top 10, Ookpik.

Skydive Midwest Next was the strongest U.S. team in 7th place after Round 6. Next is the reigning USPA champion in the AA/Intermediate Class and have moved up into the AAA competition this year. The 14.1 average indicates that the team could be in medal contention in this year's USPA Advanced Class - one year after winning in the Intermediate Class...
