Did You Know...

... that Mathieu Bernier's NSL Profile has been overdue since 2010?

Unique:4-way and 8-way double gold in Menzelinsk 2010
posted Feb 23rd, 2016 - The NSL Profiles have a new entry, which has been overdue since 2010.

Many of the skydiving celebrities in the NSL Profiles are reigning or former world champions (Dan BC, Jerome David, Marin Ferre, Craig Girard, Andy and David Grauwels, John Hoover, Thomas Hughes, Joey Jones, Mark Kirkby, Alan Metni, Natasha Montgomery, Shannon Pilcher, Eliana Rodriguez, Gary Smith, Solly Williams), which is more than enough reason to take a closer look at their skydiving careers.

Several of the listed world champions have also turned into successful coaches and are still a part of the Sun Path Products NSL News stories on a regular basis. However, there is only one world champion who accomplished something that has never been done before at an FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving, and which may never happen again: Winning two gold medals at the same event in two different FS events.

French coaches in Menzelinsk 2010: Jerome David - Marin Ferre
It was the current French national coach Mathieu Bernier who won two gold medals in 4-way and 8-way at the World Meet in Menzelinsk 2010.

He was the only team member in the French 4-way lineup who also competed in 8-way at the same time.

National coach Jerome David had approved this plan and finished his coaching career with Mathieu Bernier's first double gold in history and a total of four French gold medals for a complete FS Sweep.

Jerome David, a former 4-way world champion himself, was the first NSL Profile entry for France. He was followed by French 4-way coach and former 4-way world champion Marin Ferre last year.

With the French Girls at the World Cup 2015
Mathieu Bernier is the third Frenchman in the NSL Profiles, and he has a very similar career pattern compared to his two predecessors. He was first a world class and highly achieved competitor before he was selected to become the national coach in Formation Skydiving competition.

In fact, Mathieu Bernier is not a former competitor yet, as he is still trying to win 8-way gold medals for France this year - and maybe still in ten years, as he mentioned in his career story.

He is also currently coaching the French FLY-IN Girls, reigning world champions in 4-way Women. He took over this coaching job from Jeremie Rollett who was working with the team before he started his new job with the Qatar Tigers. Mathieu Bernier will soon compete with the French FLY-IN Girls at the Shamrock Showdown 2016 and challenge the Golden Knights. Solly Williams will be his opponent on the coaching bench...
