Did You Know...

... that Southern Mix moves up into the AAA/Advanced Class?

posted Jan 4th, 2016 - The Sun Path Products NSL News reported earlier this year how well prepared several A Class teams came to the Intermediate Class competition of the USPA Nationals 2015 after previously attending meets of the regular season at their home leagues.

One of the four A Class teams in the Top 5 of the USPA Intermediate Class rankings was Southern Mix who missed the bronze medals only by one point in the jump-off Round 11. The one point deduction in the extra round avoided a tie-breaking procedure and gave the Air Force team Allegiance the bronze medals.

The Southern Skydiving League team had started the 2015 season with different lineups at the first two meets (5.3 - 8.5) before Jeana Billings and Jolene Dressel connected first with Glenn Lambert and then with Paraclete's John D'Annunzio in the outside center slot at the August meet. Southern Mix was highly motivated after the meet and made plans for the USPA Nationals with the same lineup.

The exciting competition for medals in the USPA Intermediate Class with a total of 36 teams was even more inspiring for the Southern Mix lineup at the national championships.

The SSL team has now made plans for the 2016 season, and it will be the same lineup that is going to tackle the complete dive pool. Southern Mix is moving up into the AAA/Advanced Class next year. Glenn Lambert and John D'Annunzio continue as the team's player coaches.

Only the USPA gold medalist in the Intermediate Class is required to move up into the Advanced Class. Southern Mix would be eligible to continue in the same category. However, the team is ready to take on the complete dive pool under the experienced guidance of Paraclete's world class 4-way and 8-way competitor. Southern Mix will become the first AAA Class team of the Southern Skydiving League at USPA Nationals, while Jeana Billings and Jolene Dressel plan to continue with other Rookie Class lineups at the regional SSL meets this year.
